OK we have had so many horror stories on the Head Gasket, lets see how many are doing fine and the mileage.......
specs
93 model 217K

Texican- lots of the "mine is fine @ XXXk mi." posts on the main HG Poll thread started by e99999999. How about limit this to those HG ok at 200k mi. and over or something like that? For those that made it that far with no HG probs, it would be nice to know:

- 80 model year
- coolant maintenance schedule
- coolant type used
- climate the vehicle has been in

To see if there are any common factors.

doin' fine at 180,058. Compression is straight across the board, no bubbles in overflow, no loss of coolant and no moisture on the oil filler cap. I did blow the PHH around 150,000 and drove it hot for about a minute before i realized it was blown.

Other than the regular routine maint. that's it.

Rollin along just fine with 133k on the ticker. I drive it and wheel it like I stole it.

Yearly flush and refill
currently using Peak green coolant
Southern AZ desert (it was 108* today)

I got the rig a year and a half ago, it had 180K on it then, had Toyota red.....looked fresh, I changed it this spring, flushed and used Texaco Dex Cool, climate hot Texas, truck was local Dallas as far as I can tell all it's life.
It had a Toyota oil filter on so I assume the service had been regular and probably dealership.:D

I was going to contribute to this thread, but decided I'd like to keep my old hg for awhile yet :)

that's right...keep singin' your mantra...;)

to paraphrase Dan "you can change it on your schedule or not, but it's just a matter of time". Just don't be surprised. The new gasket is different for a reason.

'94 with 175K, '95 w/86K. I have no idea if the PO's changed the HG's or not, and I suspect the same is true for some other folks.
Perhaps a mention if you are the original owner is in order.

1995, original owner, 125K. Last 12 months - new rad (oem 3 row), fan clutch, water pump. Fluids and thermostat replaced anually.

1995-1999 - Chicago
1999-present - S Cal

Blackstone says no coolant in oil.

i'm at at 110K and no obvious HG problems.

oh wait, that was last year. i guess that i got confused with the whole denial swirl in this thread. i'm at 114K and had the HG job done 6 months ago.

what's the point of this thread?

200k, never had a HG failure :flipoff2:

Yea, but didn't you cheat and replace it before it failed? :flipoff2: :flamingo:

I'm willing to tempt fate.

I've got 125K and no head gasket issues. I expect to get at least another 125K with no problems.

When I get home, I'll drive my LC under 13 ladders and over 13 black cats.

No head gasket problems up until a rebuild at 146K. No HG issues since, and now at 165k.
