Hey guys, I just had my FJ40 get dropped off to me after months of getting work done and as soon as I drove it down the street I smelled rubber burning. I parked my car and looked underneath and found it smoking. Is this the clutch??
yeah just got off the phone with them, they told me the tow truck driver might have engaged the handbrake too hard so when i released it it didn't fully disengage. So raised and lowered the handbrake a few times and then drove off and seems to have done the trick. so relieved it wasn't anything major
Well you should take it back and have them replace the rear seal, I highly doubt it lived thru that much heat and that drum is in direct contact with the seal in the tail housing. Park it and see if it drips from the e-brake, if not, you will need to fill the tcase properly, then you'll see the drip.
