Hello mates! I got a VDJ200 GX manual. It’s working great, no problem so far. My only concern is why my car doesn’t go past 180 km/h. It looks like it has a speed limiter that doesn’t allow my car to reach its full potential. Is there any way I could remove the speed limiter thing from my car?

What RPM is it doing at 180?

That sounds about right for the V6, they are limited to 175km/h (108mph). I believe the V8s are limited to 210km/h (130mph)

A VDJ should have the 4.5TD though..

I’m also curious what RPMs OP is seeing at 180

I've never driven my 200 even close to that speed. I'm so boring in my 7,000 lb vehicle. I'll save high speed for more purpose built machines.

Did Toyota make the 200 with a 4.5 TD and a manual transmission?

edit, guess so.

Can't help OP, but can confirm the V8 goes past 180kph.

A medical emergency a couple years back opened my eyes to a lot of things this LX can do that it really shouldn't be able to do...

Hmm…..so what’s “full potential”?

There's that video here somewhere that shows a mod'd 200 going over 200mph. I can't find the link right now, but it's on mud.

I think you're thinking of the the Land Speed Cruiser. ~230mph

My LX was surprisingly stable at 100mph - weirdly good actually. I've never done that in a big SUV and have no desire to ever go faster than that in it but it most certainly could. Just wanted to see what it would feel like.

~90mph when passing is all mine will ever see.

Edit: I had the math wrong.

Online calculators suggest ~4000 rpm for 3.90s, .881 overdrive, 285/65R17 31.6" diameter. Redline is 4600.

We should also keep in mind these engines only make 268hp, and that's probably way below 4k.

I've had my 200 up to 100 once, it was on a 1/4 mile dragstrip, so totally legal. Yes I took my Cruiser to a drag race once. It was fun but won't be doing it again.

I'm no 1/4 mile/dragstrip expert, but, you got your 200 series up to 100mph in a 1/4 mile?!?!?
I'll have to check the slips, I think I still have them, but yeah I know it was high 90's by the time I hit the traps. I kept into it once to hit the triple digits, since the stopping lane was really long.

New England Dragway in Epping NH. You can run what ya brung every Wednesday evening, for $20.

Well that is pretty much the max you can get out of it. I have kinda like the same one trim with the H150F gearbox and if you didn’t had a regearing for your 3th and 5th gear that is pretty much the limit since the manual shifted V8 diesel have (take a look in your papers) mostly only ~225hp due to Toyota was worried about too many ppl killing the clutch with the normal 270+ hp of the biturbo diesel. You are still moving ~3t…
Also 180max at around 4000rpm.

Definitely one of the slowest 200‘s but also the one with the longest lasting engine. My injections offsets are still with 350kkm, 16years and alot of short drives on the clock at max +-0.3mm^3/stroke and Toyta recommends taking a look at them at around +-3.
