Almost every car I buy is Dark red! WTF? Landcruiser, Red, Loyale, Red, Legacy, RED! Although, I broke my stride with buying a White '83 GL! lol...

So, I decided to drag some guy in a 2500 GMC Sierra today. I got him off the line, Redline shifted outta 1st at 4900rpm (I didn't watch the tach to let it shift sooner) then 2nd and 3rd shifted at 3200rpm and then finally 4th when I started taking it easy (I was then going 70mph) and was just a little ahead of the 2500.
My question is, where is Valve float on the 3F-E? I know with the old Subarus, Valve float is a little over 7000rpm (About 500rpm over Redline) Either way, the motor didn't sound stressed, and I still had some pull.
I mainly drive the 3F-E like an old man, letting it shift around 2500rpm at most, sometimes around 3000rpm. How do these motors like High or Low RPMs?
Ummm it's not a race car.....they are an OHV motor so I would not ring it out to much. Also drag racing on the street in dangerouse in cars let alone trucks.![]()
Now i'm just going to have to call BS...... a 3FE powered cruiser beating a Chevy V8 powered 2500..... not a chance. are you sure he wasn't dragging a 20k boat behind it![]()
Is CruiserDan the guy I need to talk to about getting all the bears and seals to replace my leaking front axle seal? I know somebody posted a link to the page where it lists all the parts for about $100.
I am thinking I should get the parts soon so I can tackle this.![]()
lrowe_csp said:Yes, CruiserDan (CDan) or Beno can get you OEM new parts at a very reduced prices. Great service and both are cruiser heads, so they know what you need even when you don't.
Congrats to Beno, he has now matriculated from Dan's rigorous and long "Excellence in IH8Mud Parts Service" training program and has taken over his own parts department at a sister Toyota Dealership also in Albuquerque.
I'm guessing he had to pass Dan's Landcruiser parts bootcamp (sweeping floors, fetching parts, pushups, studying old microfiche parts diagrams long into the night, "grasshopper, the answer is in front of your nose"), and Toyota PhD (studying kaizen and the "Toyoda Way" in Japan) until he was finally allowed to translate customer gibberish about the "watchmacallit" into correct parts for the problems without supervision.
Thanks Dan, thanks Onur!![]()

Arigato!
I would do both sides, yours probably haven't been done yet, and you would hate to have to do the other side 3 months later.
