WTF! Really.... That is total BS. Different dealers can't change the price of factory parts, can they?

If so, I wonder how I can make my deal acknowledge this price scalp and get compensated accordingly?

Toyota's published pricing is "suggested" only. Dealers are free to charge whatever the market will bear. If it was not "suggested" it would constitute price-fixing, which is illegal.

And if you want the right parts at reasonable-for-OEM prices, call Dan. I've bought thousands of dollars in parts from him - and have always been treated right.

(Buy a TRD supercharger - the "thousands of dollars" rings up quick.)

Make good use of the vendors we have here on ih8mud.

A parts & service counter guy at one of our local dealers told me that I had a "Cool Bronco" when I was in buying a case of Toyota red coolant. Just working at a Toyota dealership & service counter doesn't result in any expertise on Landcruisers. Call Dan or another one of the ih8mud vendors. They'll take good care of you.

Ahaha, I find that funny, yet insulting. How could he not tell its a Toyota?

Sounds like the Subaru dealer I go to, The sales guys says to me "Nice Legacy" and I say "What Legacy? You mean that Loyale, right?"

I'm sorry, but does this look like a Legacy? I think not...

Anybody know what causes a 3F-E to start up, run for a second, then stall. Ice cold first start of the day. Restart and runs perfect. It has only done it twice so far, just wondering if there is some type of cold start valve that isn't working right, I don't think this is an IAC issue.

Anything else I should know?

I want this roof rack! Its the cats ass for sure. I had the idea of once I get a rack, right where the pull out shade is on this rack, I would like to mount a long tube style light (Maybe High-Power LED) for side ground/work lights, to illuminate the area around the truck in he event of a flat tire.

Some type of utility light like this on each side of the rack.

That's an INTI rack there is a vendor on here that sells them.

The one thing I have not done to this rig yet, has been adjust the timing with an actual light. I adjusted it by ear, idles fairly smooth and no pinging with 93 oct.

My question is, how the hell do you get to the timing window!? Could Toyota put any more hoses and wires in your way on that side of the motor? Personally, I can't even see the window, let alone get a crayon in there, there is so much stuff in the way lol... Any tips? Also, does anyone know off hand what the timing is supposed to be set at? I thought I read it was 7*BTDC? I could be wrong.

Nice Ride! You are ambitious with the lift in the snow! I should turn my ride over to you for about 6 months and pay you for the improvements. You have an eye for detail and the ideas like lights on the side are awesome. Sure would help out at times.

I'm another WI guy - Sussex actually. After tax season is over, if you need a hand, I can provide an extra set if you need one. Though I don't know a whole heck of a lot about the inner workings of my cruiser, it was mostly done when I bought it.

Thank you, I am very anal about details lol. If I notice something wrong (Even if no one else will notice it) it bothers me until I make it right.

Thats cool you're in Sussex, I'm usually out that way for one reason or another. If you ever need a hand with yours, let me know. I'm always into working on stuff (Just ask the local Subaru guys)

Cheers,
-Tom

PM'd and thanks!

Does anyone abject to pulling off the Heat/Noise insulation which is under the hood? I heard its to keep the top of the motor from getting frosted, but I mainly think its a noise damper (Since the hood is not ridged in the center)

Anybody?

It also protects the paint on the hood from getting too hot and starting to fade.

Why do you want to remove it?

Was just wondering, as I've never seen this stuff on any vehicles other then 70s/80s GMs, Dodge, Ford etc..

Maybe that explains why my hood doesn't have the typical peeling, it was a Missouri truck, so I'm sure its seen Heat/sun.

Thanks for the reply!

So, yet another question.

I've read somewhere that the '91-'92 FJ80s develop a "Slack" in the driveline over time, which is what I think I have.

What causes this? U-Joints are solid, is this something with the T-case?

I read that it is not a strength issue, just more of an annoyance.

Tom, definitely leave the insulation on under the hood. My 90 has none, and the paint is pretty much down to the primer. My 94 still has it, and that paint is perfect. I doubt 4 years would make that much difference on its own.
Also, the 90 (Diesel) likely gets hotter under hood temps....

But, I have always thought the insul under there probably made a difference.

Just my 0.02$

Doug
