The AC stopped working gradually over time. It go weak at first. At the same time my heater started to take a long time to start working. My understating is they are separate systems. Are these issues possible related?
I did smell very faint coolant for some time. It is better now. I never need to add coolant I suspect that the heater core has a pinhole. I was thinking of using a small pump to back flush flush the heater core. Maybe add some stop leak the the heater core only? I have no interest in tearing the dash out. Should I just leave it alone and skip the flushing?
The AC system? I suspect a leak here too. I had a shop ruin a 90 T-bird by filling it with modern refrigerant. That makes me skeptical of my local shops. I no longer have a high vacuum pump so I think I want to farm this out. I think the system needs to be flushed of old oil. I think that the dye needs to be added or a sniffer used to find the leak. The modern refrigerant is then filled.
Anything else to ask a prospective shop?
