Anyone have an idea on how to bend down the upper spring perch? Somehow mine is tweaked upwards about 1/2" (Don't know how, was like that when I bought the truck, which I didn't notice at first)

I am thinking of getting the spring tension off the perch, and then hit the top of the perch with a sledge and see if I can flex it down back to where it should be.

My truck leans to the left right now, and looks sad to say the least... :meh:

Got a pair of front Spring spacers from Jason (thetrekkerguy) tonight! Thanks bro, now I need to pop these things in and try to fix the perch as I told you, and we'll be sitting level!

:bounce:

Noticed something cool with the FJ80 a few nights ago, a Headlight burns out, it will kick on the Highbeams, but will only allow enough voltage to run them as driving lights. So now I have 3 lights instead of 1.

Never seen anything like that before. Nice innovation Toyota!

This is such a sweet build - can't wait to see more progress!

I have a left-leaner too with my FJ80....can't figure out why - bought it that way but I figured I'd get around to it and never have :)

I'll look into it more here this weekend now that I know my OME'd 80's not the only one with a lean to it.

Love the tire / wheel combo too!

Awesome, thank you. I will keep this thread updated with fresh goodness.

I have been trying to figure out the lean as well, only thing I can see is, my left front perch looks bent slightly, which would result in a sagging side.

Maybe Fat Bastard owned this truck and bent the body mounts

Does anyone have an idea on what would cause a 3F-E to start up, ice cold, then stall. Restart and runs perfect.

Today was something new, instead of stalling, it continued to run, but the idle kept lofting with no change. Shut it off and restart, and runs perfect. This is a quirk that I've noticed with mine once in a while.

Ideas...?

Are springs from a '91-'92 the same as a '93-'97? Main question is, are the spring perches are the same on every FJ80, correct?

I know there are different spring rates signified by Color dots. Just need to know if every FJ80 spring perch is the same.

Thank you!

Since I am now driving the 80 everyday, the motor has sure quieted down, The oil is very black which is a good sign that the dirt is loosening up and unclogging ports ect. I have changed the oil twice within 3000miles just for the fact that it is so black. I had ran Seafoam in it previously which helped tremendously.

3F-E FTW!

I have used sea foam in the past and it works well. I have found the best thing to use is ATF in the crank case. I will wait till I need an oil change then put a quart of ATF in for 500miles before the oil change. Doing this has cleaned up the inside of an engine better than anything else I have used and is cheap.

In my 1fz I run Shell Rotella T 15/40 being a diesel oil its got higher detergents and really cleans things up and keeps it that way. I still do the quart of ATF before every oil change though just to make sure its staying nice and clean inside. My oil now stays golden brown for 2000miles before it starts getting darker. First 2 oil changes I did a fast interval 1500miles and the new oil was completely black with in 200miles.

Engine runs much much smoother now and is way quieter at idle. My fuel mileage has also increased some.

Almost every car I buy is Dark red! WTF? Landcruiser, Red, Loyale, Red, Legacy, RED! Although, I broke my stride with buying a White '83 GL! lol...

You need to do a 6 lug swap on that Loyale and then you can get matching rims :)

HAHA! I was thinking about that. I've seen a few guys run the Alloy Hilux wheels on their old Subaru, doesn't look to bad.

Might have to go this route with the '83 Ski wagon!

I have never heard any issues arising due to running some ATF in the oil, it will only be for 100 or so miles since the viscosity of the oil is compromised.

I got my Pioneer wired up today, thanks goes to Jason "thetrekkerguy" for showing me what goes where. All speakers still work without factory Amp!

Got it all finished up today, I got the cubby from a first gen 4-Runner. Really looks good!
