Hi Danny
Had to change trucks myself today.
A gout knee does not make for good clutch pushing.
The Nissan is auto.
Gear box news . I will make contact over the week end.
I will let you know the outcome.
Chair ridden today myself just . Just wish I could unbolt the worn out bits and replace just like the Forty Series.
Your Aussie slang is coming along well.
You should get the Aussie Slang users guild some time this week.
Can hardly wait on new Australian / American talk Coming our way.
Bambi.
I don't know why mine won't idle smooth at 650 but I can live with that.
The faster speed helps the Aircon . I don't think I told you how good that works.
The inside of the forty can now be like a freezer room. I have owned many cars and trucks with Aircon but none matches up with this set up.
30 deg day and we are freezing with the thermo state on half.
At that setting the pump runs for 3 min and off for 4 min
Sit back and relax today and take it easy.
Got to get your strength and mine up for the Gunbarrel crossing.
The Suzuki is ready to go.
We all have to have a goal.
Cheers Peter

Hi Danny
Still chair bound. What a waste of a day.
Can't say I have ever seen a cat pissin on a mirror. Must be a USA thing .
OR
No cats here Brandi makes sure of that.
I will study that thread today.
When I say mine won't idle 650 rpm that's not quite true. At 650 rpm it will idle but if you put a glass of water on the valve cover the water has movement not a lot but it's there. Sitting behind the wheel you can feel the motor at idle.
However
If you increase the rpm to 780 / 800 it's like your cat doing a wee wee on your mirror and the glass of water is like a mill pond.
It's possible this could be a motor mechanical vibration.
I had problems with the motor machine shop . I asked to be present when the motor was balanced but the machine shop conveniently forgot to phone.
Got to get better to walk them dogs . Most important.
I know Tom is watching on the side .
Now you and Tom in the Suzuki . That would be a site.
Air con
The under dash Air conditioner
I brought the under dash unit from Ebay and the condenser was matched to the under dash unit and brought from a high class radiator shop.
The compressor a new OEM unit I found in Spain.
I fitted all the parts and had a shop do the pipe work.
If you want to turn the cab into an ice box Nat found out by accident leaving the glove box door open redirects the cold air to the floor.
Works a treat
Cheers and all the best yo the cheese and kisses.

So, now that my back is finally feeling normal again, I can finally drive 44 with her rebuilt heart... Now, I find the power steering is manual steering...
I was gonna take Gunner on an outing, but the NV mountains are now cold. While waiting for the weather to warm slightly, I've decided to do a few things to 44 before I take her out... So, Gunner and I are taking Chester, in the Tundra tomorrow, for a day trip to see how badly the roads in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge were damaged in the heavy rains a couple of weeks ago.
Technically, I had to put several things on hold until I was physically able. So, this afternoon, I drained the power steering and removed the pump for the rebuild... Waiting on the rebuild kit.
My snorkel arrived a few weeks ago, I'm hoping to get it installed as well as raise the breathers for the axles, TC and tranny shift tower... But it's not my first task.
When I bought my winch, I bought a hitch-mount cradle with the intent of sharing it between 44 and my Tundra... But, now I'm afraid to lift it... Don't want to chance hurting my back further. So, I'm going to mount it on 44's front bumper.
I bought some of Alex's (@SouthBostonFJ40 ) brass bushings and want to get them installed on my hinges.
I was able to sit down and wire lights and license plate lights onto my hitch carrier while I was down for the count... Now, I'm wiring 44 to accept the carrier's plug (I wired the carrier (4 wires) into a 7-pin plug so I can share the carrier on any vehicle with a 7-pin), but wiring products forgot to ship my 3-2 wire converter... So, I'm stuck waiting for that now... Should be here tomorrow.
Also, need to get 44 organized for trips again... I stripped everything out of her before taking her in for open heart surgery.
Should have most of these tasks done before the rebuild kit arrives... I hope.
Danny I'd use a hydraulic jack for lifting the winch without hurting your back. Just my two cents.
The cradle has handles, so Dianna and I can easily get it up onto the bumper (90 lbs) and I can remove the cradle and do the rest. But, I get your point![]()
That works. Did you ever post a pic of your new winch? I don't recall ever seeing one.
I've just read your whole thread, I'm having trouble sleeping lately.
What a journey, long may it continue
The only thing I can add is a pic of some interesting Kiwi cloud formations
Apparently there is a pirate in there, I just took the picture as I liked the clouds!
So... Gunner and I took the Tundra and carried Chester out about 30 miles into the Desert National Wildlife Refuge today. We parked, shared a breakfast burrito and then i had them pose for a picture - oh hell! Chester's gone again!!

I'm having trouble getting Chester to stay put, when off leash, and come back when he runs off. Last week, I took him shooting... he hit everything he aimed at, but ran off one time too many! So, I got in the truck and drove off... about a mile... and waited for him around a blind curve. I was a little worried about rattlesnakes, but really didn't think he would hurt them.
So, today, after he ran off twice, I enticed him back with some pot-laced cookies and lassoed his ass!! Then I leashed him to Gunner and asked Gunner to teach him to behave. Gunner started off by making him 'stay'

Then, Chester started carrying weapons and Gunner's attitude slowly changed

Next thing I knew, Chester was leading a dejected Gunner around

Then, I posed them for another picture and they BOTH ran off!!

We had a great time though and I actually hiked (with them of course) one mile uphill 400' and then another mile back to truck... again, 400' uphill. First time I've been able to hike in over 7 months!! It was a great day!!
Technically... my 3-wire to 2-wire adapter finally arrived... I can finish wiring 44 for the hitch carrier tomorrow!
That works. Did you ever post a pic of your new winch? I don't recall ever seeing one.
