Next time you change oil , try knocking two holes in the bottom of the filter (if the mounting face is pointed down) - one at the center and one halfway to the outside . This allows the oil trapped in the filter to drain out , usually done once the pan is stopped dripping . I put a Fumoto valve on my pan , nice not to have 2 gallons come rushing out all at once .

Good idea Sarge.
And hey you where right about my exhaust. Driving down the road you would get a strong exhaust smell in the cab. I had it rerouted out the drivers side behind the tire. No more smell.

A lot of folks learn this the hard way , soft top or otherwise . Best angle conclusion out there is a 45* angle out the rear corner of the body with at least a 30* down angle as well . Works on Sami's , Cruisers , Rovers , ect ...

The punch trick on oil filters comes from working on heavy trucks , some store almost a gallon of oil and that can make a huge mess .

Uh , is that mounted on the bottom ??
Sarge

Yeah, it is.
Not my first choice. But I don't have enough room to mount it on top. The crossmember is in the way. Also the body or tub is to close to have enough room to mount the caliper. And the muffler is in the way of the arm linkage. Not sure what else to do. I will have to build a skid plate to protect it all.

This may be a little more tricky, but what about mounting it on the side and make a pivot or pulley above the crossmember?

I got my disc brake parking brake built and working.

Here are some pics of what I made. I forgot to get pics when I put it all together.

I tried and tried to made my stock cable work....... It just will not. It does not have enough pull.

I ended up taking the cable off my Doner FJ60 I have. It has enough pull. I will have to get some pics of how I modified my stock brake lever to work.

I made the linkage myself too.

Here's a few more pics of the parking brake handle linkage. I still use the stock handle.
First I had to disconnect the linkage from the end of the pull handle. Then I welded a bracket to the pull handle rod and drilled a hole in it for the cable to go through. The last pic you can see where the stock cable went through the firewall. And the new cable just below that.

(Please ignore the rats nest of wires. I've had bigger fish to fry with this 40)

The offset is made from 1/4" thick plate. I drilled a hole through it and slid the park brake rod through it so you can't really see it but the rod sticks out about 3/4" out the other side of the offset plate. And it's welded on both sides. The back ones better I swear! Lol

True I could have made a nicer looking weld on the visable side. What you see is a second pass over the first. Then I ground it with the angle grinder a bit So yes it's kinda ugly I agree.

I'm in a rush, I'm going to Moab next week! And I still have lots to do

Here is the back side. The plate was a 2x2 square, hole in the center. After welding I cut off the extra with the plasma cutter. Then used the angle grinder to clean it up a bit.

Also made a plate to mount my new cb to. This made the cb mount flush with the dash and not stick out.
