Thanks!Where did you buy that parking brake?, BTW subscribed. Your rig is looking good Alvaro
Thanks!
I'm installing a 4 speed trans and split case transfer case into my 1965 FJ40. I took the trans & T/C out of a 1984 FJ60 Of course my 40 had the drum on the t/c for the parking brake and the 60 does not. So what to do. Well after some searching found out they did make a factory drum setup for some models. But has been discontinued and is very hard and expensive to come by. So that option was out. I could go with the the Cadillac Eldorado rear calipers. But I had just done my rear disc conversion. With all new parts and felt that would be a waste. And if I went that route I would be in it all said and done 500ish. With calipers, brackets, core charges, cables ect ect. And I heard they still did not hold that well.
So I wanted something different. And I could not find a company that made anything for me at a reasonable price. But I did find All Pro off Road made a disc brake manual parking brake for Toyota trucks and 4 Runners. I called them and asked if it would fit a FJ60 and they said they where not sure???
Well looking at the rotor they offered, it had several bolt patterns drilled into it and figured I would find a way to make it work. I ordered just the caliper and the rotor from them and figured I would just make my own bracket.
Once I got them I found one of the bolt patterns was perfect but was just to small of a hole to fit over the studs on my flange. So I drilled them out to the right size on the drill press and it slid right on! Sweet!! I will now need to make a bracket and figure out the cable set up and hope it works well.
The part numbers I used is
Rotor 5204-AP $29.99
Caliper 5206-AP-10024 $99.99
I've a 1984 FJ40 with 4 speed. How do I know if it's similar to the Fj60?
An 84 FJ40 SHOULD have a rear axle parking brake like the FJ60.... no?
