Nice 40. What soft top are you running?

Que tipo de capota tiene en la troca? Se ve muy bien en su 40.

Full Floating
In Venezuela, the FJ40 came stock with 3.73 gears and semi-floating rear axles.

I purchased a Full Floating (FF) rear axle with drum brakes from a 2007 FZJ71 and modified it to be installed in the rear of my FJ40. There was a win-win situation after doing this:

1.- I would gain the FF axle
2.- The new axle comes stock with 4.10 gears

The FZJ71 came with the 5 bolt pattern on the wheel hub. The hubs were machined to accept the 6 bolt pattern standard to older Land Cruisers. The spring perches were also moved to match the width of the FJ40 mounts.

Since the 71 axle is a little wider than the 40 axle, I added a small wheel spacer in the front to match the track front and rear.

At the same time, I replaced the gear ratio on the front 3rd member to 4.10 (same as the rear axle). Also, I took this opportunity to install ARB air lockers front and rear .

The drive-shafts that came with the truck were Venezuelan-made shafts and I purchased a set of OEM Genuine Toyota drive-shafts. These were installed at the same time as the gears/lockers.
