There are at least twenty solutions for cup holders, and I've only found one that goes where it belongs, in the center console in the odd shaped spot. The one I picked up from @musthave is perfect, stainless steel, and it just works. Ordered one last week for my bo', got it today and will make him happy when we go out for his birthday tonight.

@musthave did a great job, and I can only think of one thing to make it better. Is there any way that you can make it so it doesn't move at all with a Styrofoam cup? I don't want to screw it or glue it, but there has to be some way to keep it in. It works great for everything, except the oversized Styrofoam cups. hehe, maybe I should stay away from the oversized cups...

Any idea how to secure it without damage?

as in, we need a holder for champagne glasses ? :flamingo:

Sure, but it's a lousy solution for us LX owners :flipoff2:
I didn't know that there was a difference, you mean you don't have an odd shaped cutout in your center console where you can put drinks and watch them spill?

@DSRTRDR Doesn't the pink panty mod allow for driving with one hand on wheel, and the other with a champagne glass?

technically, I could, but I don't drink while driving (and not before driving, either)

also, after wheeling the 40 for 10 years with manual steering, I still steering wheels firm with both hands, even in the 80 series, thumbs inside, though :steer:

Of we have a on odd shaped mid speaker cover that could use some love because some of us remove that useless bulky plastic.

I think someone just wanted @boogerweldz to post a pic of his "cupholders" again...

Maybe for those of us with LX and removed the center woofer which is completely useless and put a cup holder there? I've been thinking about how to use that space anyways.

LX is difficult for Cupholder to go where it belongs, sorry @NLXTACY

Why don't I just give you an 80 center console so you can experience the bliss of my Cupholder :-)

I would like to see a cup/bottle holder that slides down into the squarish hole between the coin slots (in a FZJ80) which might also use the bolt at the bottom of the hole to secure it, or at least a rubber pad/coating that holds it in place by stiction. It should be able to stabilize various cup or bottle sizes and have a side pocket that isn't too deep to hold pens, eyeglasses, etc, IMHO.

Jose steps up to the plate!

 That is what this is about and what musthave makes.

I always find these cup holder threads amusing. When I was at U of Michigan, the mechanical engineers had a sophomore year design project to make a cupholder that meets all the requirements listed by Kernal above.
Every semester you would see ~10 teams of students working on it and each would have a different design. Some worked, some didn't. Its fun to see even more designs come from trying to adapt something to work in the given space in a Land Cruiser
