Today I let my beautiful Mahdi go. Proud and stoic until the end, she never lost her dignity. That old girl had heart like nothing I have ever seen. Twelve years and eight months and it was still too soon. Her pack is lost without her.

Sweet dreams baby girl.

The poem is by Jennifer Elliot.

Sweet dreams Mahdi...RIP good friend!

Buddy had a heart attack this morning.

He was young for a Dane, but he died playing in the sun out in the yard. Our last two had to be put down old and sick. It was sudden, but it was better than the others.

He was my daughter's dog. She's pretty devastated.

Dane's are strange. I doubt we'll ever have another, but he was a good dog.

Sorry Todd. I remember you talking about him.

Here's my JRT 'Pete'. Had to put him down last month. Lymphoma plagued him.

Hershe the Cowdog

She walked up to the house in March 2007 and was here to stay. My wife was dead-set against having a dog but Hershe didn't pay any attention to that. Instead she focused on making herself essential to our lives and convincing the wife that dogs are pretty OK people.

We lost her in September 2009 when she followed a neighbor dog into the street and we still miss her every day.

Yesterday we decided to have our two old dogs put down, What a horrible feeling, Bleu(black one) has been part of our family since 1996 when we found him at the animal shelter as a puppy, We weren't even able to take him home for 2 weeks, So he could get fixed, He was that young.
Bleu needed a buddy so we rescued Tiara a 2 year old Treeing Walker from a family in a trailer park, in 1998, They became instant friends.
Both were getting old and starting to fall apart, But neither one complained, They had a house over their heads, Yard to play in, Even a little sister Suzie to torment and milk bones at will
They will surely be missed, It is so quiet in the house...

This is about a 10 year old picture, Its the quickest one I could find.

I lost a dear friend today

I lost a dear friend today.:frown:

For a third of my life, Blondie blessed my home. She was a shy, quiet and sweet kitty who was rarely seen by others. But she was never shy about taking her place on my lap giving out large amounts of unconditional love.

I began to notice that she was not looking well recently. The vet indicated that she had some sort of lung disease. Although further testing might have revealed the cause, the prognosis for all was poor. Since she wasn't in any pain, I felt it would be best if she lived her last days at home with me and her sisters.

As I held her on my lap for the last few times, I assured her "if love was enough, you would be okay," but alas, it never is.....

Blondie died quietly this morning. She will be buried tomorrow next to a new desert willow, which, I'm certain will bloom into something beautiful.

Goodbye sweetheart.

:frown: Sorry to hear Rob.

Sorry to see this--Rest in Peace Blondie....a good friend indeed

I took one last walk with the kids today. This is one of many photos from that walk. Tomorrow I have to put her down. It has been a hard few months...... The last few weeks even harder...

This is Spirit. We rescued her almost 3 years ago at the age of 5. She had been abused and abandoned in a previous life. She taught me how to be a more gentle owner, how to have more patience.... She was my trail buddy, my travel companion. She protected when needed and never showed aggression. She was the most gentle and loving thing I have ever known. Goodbye my sweet Spirit. Thank you for the time we had.

Waldo

My best mate and faithful companion. We travelled many miles together and have seen so many things. We shared ice cream and Christmas ham on some pretty incredible beaches. I will miss you much my old friend. See you at the Rainbow Bridge and we will eat some more ice cream then!

My oldest Beagle Holly has passed away. She lives in Iowa.

She has had a stroke, blind, could barely get around but she did her best.

On saturday she laid down and could not get up without assistance.
On monday she could not stand on her own. It was time. She is now in a better place.

Feb 4 1995 - Sept 24 2012

Yes, she was 17 years old.

I will have to dig up some old pictures of her.

Well this year sucked For the hounds at my place.
