'Mud pet memorial thread

Today after work I had to take my GF so we could have her chihuahua / minpin mix Stitch put down. He was barely over two years old. Breeder turned out to be inbreeding their dogs, which she didn't find out until after paying $800 for him as a puppy. He was born with a bad liver and was given two years to live, which he reached a few weeks ago. Never weighed more than four lbs. He was a nutcase, but he was her best animal friend.

We took him with us for our Memorial Day weekend trip to Wenatchee so he could enjoy what we were sure would be his last road trip, which he did.

Her usually independent cat Lilo was glued to him the last few days as he was rapidly declining. We suspect she realized he was close to the end.

Oh man, that's tough. Very sorry for you and your GF's loss. The good thing is that you gave him a wonderful life. But right now I know that doesn't help you much . . .

Thankfully I'm not writing today to share the loss of a pet, although I have before and will in the future. But I thought this was an appropriate place to share a poem by one of my two favorite poets.

Been a really rough few months for the family, especially the kids.

In July, we suddenly lost Laika (rescued GSD) to what we believe was a stroke. Laika somehow managed to sneak into my heart when I had sworn there wasn't any more room...really miss that dog.

Now, we are watching Gary slowly succumb to old age where we are having more bad days than good days. Gary was always happy go lucky and always up for whatever and whenever.

This is going to be a rough weekend.

A goodbye to the late great Mrs. Kate.

It pains me to add to this thread but the doodle gave way more than she took and lead a full and happy life so it’s really only the goodbye and empty spot in house that’s sad

This gal has seen many of miles of FSR as well as sanctioned parks. Wheeled rousch , anthracite, bobs farm, Beasley, uwharrie, DBBCB, and more. She’s met many more mudders than I ever will from cruising campsites on crumb patrol. Been an 80 dog. A 45 dog. A 200 dog. A taco dog. And got a lil time in the 55 too actually. Always down for an adventure from mt rogers to OBX and everywhere in between.

Such a great companion but so much more. Moms rock during her cancer treatment and passing . Dad’s solice after mom passed and he battled dementia. My new companion after my Brodi passed and I was caring for dad. Survived some craziness that ensued along the way.

Been a stable rock around the house. Including when I brought a companion home from a job site.

She’s gone from fake looking stuffed animal in her well groomed suburban life days to laid back sexy old country gal with flowing lochs.

I have too many great shots to chose from but a few from over the years I was fortunate enough to have her live with me….. may the four winds blow my lil wind weasel safely home to her dad.

What a great life you gave her. The more you love them, the more it hurts when they go. Sorry for your loss and pain.

We lost our dog Rufus today. He was a pup in the litter that picked my wife. He was a super fun and happy dog. Our pack (5 siblings, 2 cats and human family) is feeling the loss. NEVER easy as all of you know.
