Chris,

Sorry to hear about Guinness. I'm glad I got a chance to meet him. Just remember how lucky he was to have you and your wife during his life............he'll be on the other side of the bridge waiting. Dave

WOW!

That sucks!

Sorry to here about him passing on.
Thanks, guys. A tough weekend. :princess: is really in the dumper. I have been through this two other times but it was my parents who had to suffer the most. We really enjoyed one another and our hearts hurt and the house seems empty but like all things, time will heal us.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

I honestly mist up every time I read that...

I just hope wherever my boy is there's a bean-bag chair and a landcruiser in pieces :)

RIP Joey

He will only truely "Die" when his name is no longer spoken and the people who look at his pictures do not know who he is.

Good luck with the tough time you have ahead of you.

Hey.
Just wanted you guys to know Guinness came home and is above the TV where we will see him every day until he goes to his final rest. :princess: and I are going to fly to Oregon over Christmas and spread his ashes in the Willamette River with some friends.

When We lived in OR we took Guinness to the Willamette often to swim and then we would go to the Lucky Lab for beers. He was a helluva beer hound! We are planning the same thing for his last run.

That is really cool what your doing for him, he was a lucky dog..

 to Guinness and kudos to you and your wife.

This is my shorthair Scratch. She died last week. After a week at the vet I had to put her down. Her kidneys were failing and she wouldnt eat. She was three years old.

Sorry to hear that ITW. Do they know what caused the kidney failure?

They thought antifreeze at first but blood didnt have crystals in it. I fed her good food that wasnt recalled anyway. I didnt want an autopsy. She had a lot of allergies. I think she might have ate some kind of poisonous plant. ????????????

Harley's diagnoses was exactly the same, (he was 4 1/2). It's tough when you don't have an answer. The only two thing's they mentioned could cause it was antifreeze or a huge amount of grapes and/or raisins:confused: (He didn't eat grapes or raisins).

Sorry to hear this :frown:

If that ain't a good way to say goodbye, I don't know what is. We have small wooden cases of Kaala's and Snoopy's ashes that my mother kept, with impressions of their pawprints on the tops.

Hugh: Cool thing to do for Guiness. Take a pic of the area for us when you go.

inthewall: Damn, sorry to hear about your girl.

My first dober's ashes are in my lil casita, next door, where we lived together.

2nd dober's ashes are in the bathroom right now, where she would hide from lightning. Might put her with her grandma under the burying tree out front.

Kinda thinking bout starting a hole in the backyard for the next one, so it'll be ready when he goes. Chasing squirrels out back is his second favorite thing after going for walks in the woods with da family. He rattles the doorhandle to remind me: "Out back??"

Well, too late to start diggin the hole: Logan died on Wens. He was home, had a good time chasing squirrels in the morning, napping on my lap in the afternoon, and came in from playing out front w/his brother when he had a heart attack. It was quick, but I'm still weepy: picked up his ashes today. :frown:

This is Clyde.

He was my sisters, but he took to me as the Alpha Male.

I had only been living in my new home for about a year and was going to bring him here to live with us but then he got sick. He was only 8.

We had to put him down. He had a Tumor near his brain. Even towards the end, when he could hardly move, he made every effort to come to me when he saw me.

I have his ashes here with me at my home and I say hello to him ever morning before leaving to work...always.

Dogs will make every effort for us until the end. We are lucky to have them to call friends.

She got a tattoo of Guinness' foot print on her ankle.

Cool. I did the same w/Lou died: we printed Nyx's foot & talked w/tat folks till I found one who'd do the pointilism style I wanted. Makes the "do you want a pawprint" question easy to answer, and they [Lou, Nyx & Logan] are always out hiking w/me. Cell phone snap later.
