Had an awesome MTB ride the other night. Went from my place to the trails with my wife. Met up with our Tues. evening crew and hit the trails.

It was one of those night where I was "ON". Hit a mix of very technical trail, almost all single track with tons of ups and downs, a lot of rock too. The condition of the trails was perfect, dry but not too dry.

Did about 11miles then a few more on the road home.

Any others out there riding?

Sweet. I ride a few times a week. We live in an 85,000 acre state forest so we mtb right from the house. Gotta love the rides where you can do no wrong.

I ride, and I suck at it.

I want a mountain bike, but I'm broke. I had a "sweet" Ross when I was a kid.

I have been doing a ride every night. I am building back up slowly.

I have not even scratched the surface for routes yet. I am using the golf cart trails mostly but there are a few paths that lead off into the woods bordering the course. A local rancher has offered me access to his land too so the options are growing.

I hope to be in good enough shape to ride in our "Smokin Spokes Ride" here in Salado that benefits the volunteer fire department. Last year I rode but had to call for bail out. I did 24 miles of a 27 mile route and had gearing/chain problems the last 3 miles. I have to admit that the 600 ft. of climb on my route kicked my ass. I will be ready next year.

I love those days. Yep riding, but slow as crap. Nothing like having thyroid problems to screw with your riding. I can do 40 easy minutes (HR below 155), but if I push it further than that, I end up sick for 2 days to a week or more. I am glad I can ride, but all the places I like to ride are 1+ hour rides and lots of climbing to get into.

I've been riding before work lately about 3 times a week. I usually start out right before the sun starts to rise. The trails are a great way to wake up and so is the scanning for mountain lions. Especially since I am the only person in the park and their is a lot of tall grass.

I am fat and lazy this year, and have not ridden yet. We have a trip to killington, VT planned with a bunch of us that ride every year.

If you are bold and stupid, go here: http://www.boltonvalley.com/mountain_biking/index.asp

I rode the bunny trails there and thought I was going to die.

I'm trying to get my fat ass out there. You have to have a mountain bike in Colorado, it's the law, so I just built this bike up last weekend.

Let's see here:

1) Ridged fork, check,
2) Brooks saddle (what's up with the tilt), check,
3) 29er?,
4) Magura brakes.

Yep, you have the sickness.

I just ride these old clunkers. :D

Not just rigid, On One carbon rigid. Yep, he's sick. But he's got too many damm gears.

Nice Times. I ride those on my On One Inbred 29er SS.

Man, ya'll have good eyes. Yup a 29er, bonty race lite wheels and xxx stem, X7 shifters and derailleur, shimano front, Magura Marta in front, Louise in back, ATAC Z pedals, cheap race face crank and BB, parts picked up on ebay, craigslist and price point.

No trail time yet, just riding around the neighborhood this week. Seems to work pretty good. Will try to get out this weekend.

After the record amount of rainfall we have had this year, our trails haven't dried out enough to ride even though it hasnt rained for 2 weeks. That is pretty serious in this neck of the woods.

I hump the pavement in the morning and bounce around the dirt in the evenings... when dry.

I used to ride DH then sold my two DH bikes to buy my crawler, now I have a hardtail kona and miss the 9 inches of travel in the back and my marzochi super 8 in the front. maybe soon I will get a santa cruz nomad maybe and get my a$$ back, I used to ride northstar, mamooth, santa cruz trails, downieville, etc. I liked dirtbikes more but the Ghey-Bay Are is not friendly to riding dirt almost not friendly to big bikes now too. Everybody here is a spandex snob that I ran into. IMHO

Yeah, I was always liked bikes with motors better. I still would like a mountain bike to ride once in a while. It doesn't need to be anything too elaborate.

I am wantinga santa cruz blur lt but have not purchased a bike in over 15 years. Tough sell to wife......I havea 10 mile commute that I could easily work ina sweet section of downhill single track into on the way to work...On the way home I would prolly stick mostly to raod as its all up hill there are tons of trails I can ride to from my house. am currently riding a specialized rockhopper crica 1990 or so with smooth high pressure tires....I am so drooling over a blur lt...what are suitable alternatives???

Sorry for the hijack here, but are Mongoose MGX bikes any good? What can I pick up reasonably used that will have some decent travel out of the box? Most bike helmets I've seen are semi-foolish looking...should I just wear my dirt bike helmet? :flipoff2:

I want to hear your thoughts on the 9er. It's hard to get much of an opinion on MTBR, the guys that ride them are rabid about them and anyone who questions it is basically tarred and feathered.
