I have a stock 94 fj80 right now. I want to put a 2.5 ome lift on eventually and i wanted to know what kinda of mileage you guys are getting with 285's/ 305's/ or 315's....just something to think about.....also just for grins....what kinda of mileage your guys getting that run 6" lift and 37's....thanks

2.5 heavy lift some money.....

20mm packed some money.....

285/75 BFG some money.....

mileage=PRICELESS$$$..... :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I am getting 14 mpg and have the 305/70/16's on the med. OME lift. These are highway miles, a combination of stop and go with some long distance mixed in.

I also live at 5'500 ft ele.

I am running BFG AT's 295's with OME lift and providing the Saudi King Fahd with a nice mansion...at 13 MPG. check out the Christmas Card he sent me for owning a LC!

Later.

In the city, I get around 10 or 11. Highway, I get 13.5 to 14.
Running OME heavies, ARB front, Slee rear, sliders, 4.10 and 315s.

If you are concerned about fuel consumption find something else to drive. An 80 series Cruiser is not a fuel economy champion.

sounds like the extras don't affect MPG too much. I have no extras & get ~14 (mixture of city & hwy)

My neighbor just got back from a trip to California. He averaged 49mpg......in his Prius. If you are concerned about mileage, I recommend trading the LC for a Prius.

*HiJack* Drove a friend's 04 Prius tonight. Bizarre feeling having the engine shut of while driving. Other than that, pretty normal.

If you do a search on MPG you will find several threads on this. As for compareing others rigs, different places, type of fuel(addities do take away, personal epxerence with some native fuel station that do not add any oxygentaion products, I will get almost 2mpg better than oxygenated) tires(size and types), weight of vechicle will all be different. The taller you go, the more agressive tire you have, the more weight you lug around, the less MPG you will have. So starting with your present MPG, andding the lift and tires you will more than likely lose 2 or more miles a gallon, add a roof rack, subtract another MPG. the 93-94 were less efficent than the 95-97, and IMHO the 97 model year happens to be the best at Fuel ecomany. Some stock ones here in the denver area achived over 18MPG be bopping around here. later robbie

Don't pay attention to what mileage it gets. It would probably be crappy though! I just get gas when the little orange light turns on - i don't even reset the trip meter!! BTW 6" of lift with 315's and a really heavy right foot!

I just got back from a cross country journey (AZ to FL) which totaled about 4000 miles. Prior to the trip I installed the OME 861/862 + shocks and Bridgestone Revo 285/75/16 tires. I also switched to 0W-40 Mobil 1 and changed all diffs to the synthetic gear oil (M1 also) - after rebuilding my front end (birfield job - with synthetic & synthetic blend grease). The car was laden with two adults and two young children, plus luggage (probably about 50 lbs of luggage). I too was curious how badly my mileage might suffer after the larger tires. After adjusting the mileage back for the larger tires (about 5% lower odo readings when checked against my GPS), my MPG ran from a low of 13.2 (bucking a 30-40 mph headwind) to a high of 18.2 (high altitude, little wind) with my average being almost exactly 16 MPG (15.97 to be precise). (I also was filling up with premium the entire trip).

Hope this helps,
Mike

3 inch lift & 315's = 13 MPG.

stopped checking it, feel better now
