with saginaw power steering.Changed over from mini power steering now the winch will not sit level across the frame rails in front. Anyone have pics on how you mounted yours up.

i found a 10"wide and 29" long piece of channel steel at the scrap yard and mounted it on 1x2" rectangle then notched out for the steering lines.

The 1x2 gets it up over the gear box.

Hey VENPICK,
Are you pleased with the mile marker winch? I was thinking about getting one. They are a hell of a lot less expensive than the 8274 but will I regret it?

well the mile marker pulls at what it is rated for and I haven't had any problems with it, but its slow and when your respooling the cable it takes a long time. It makes a good work horse like working around the farm type stuff it wont dissappoint. However you will not regret getting the warn. Its a great winch and will respool much faster. i think you would like the warn better. ive owned warn, mile marker, and ramsey and they all were good winches.

Which MM do you (and other MM guys) have? My 10.5K hydro will spool faster than ANY electric I have seen. I have it hooked up to a Northern pump, the typ with the AC cluch. I havent hooked up my hand throttle yet, that will clear up the last of the useablity issues I have had.

If you can hook up the hydro system, I would strongly recomend them. The only down side is that I have to always tie my mini truck to something immovable (or another truck) It dosnt weigh anything and I move before the stuck truck does!

ANy pics ofyour pump and cost?

mine is an electric and i think its 9,ooo lbs.? ya i forgot that they make hydraulic ones too. I have no knowledge of those. they probably are alot faster.

Relitivly certian that this is the pump I have (slightly difrent shape) I got mine off a junk 1ton dump truck, then modified the plate to fit. I have since put a slightly smaller cluch pully on it, the shaft will fit an AC pump cluch/pully setup.

I mounted the tank in the bed, so there is about 13ft of 1.25in hose between the two, when I built it I wanted to make sure the pump didnt cavatate at ALL, so I went overkill on the hoses.

I only run 1 belt on there, I figured that if I smoked 1 belt then I have major problems, also I dont have an extra groove on the crank pully.

I dont have one in action (dont use it very much honestly) but heres a pic of the big ugly bumper mount. As for price, I got it after it was 'liberated' from a military base, brand new, never mounted with (most of) the goodies. It should have been put on the front of a hummer. If I had to do it again, I would, it blows 99.9% of electic winches away, in speed and pull. If you can get a deal on hydro hoses your golden, that will lower you total cost a BUNCH.

I have changed it around a couple times (tried difrent pumps, tanks ect) but if I were to build it exactly as it was now, it would run down like this (all new retail)
Pump 480
Tank 65
Winch ~1200 (will depend on size)
Lines ~300 (this will change depending on who you know)

Having the most bad-ass winch in your 4x4 club... priceless :D

The only hard part about it is using the cluch, brakes, and keep the idle up, and nobody knows which levers to push/pull when the help me hook up!
