To be able to lower the tailgate and clear the tray, I got a hitch extender/lower kit. I have a license plate relocator from 1Up coming as well (I've been pulled over in GA and CA for license plate obstruction and don't want that hassle).

PSA- if you have a 1up with the EZ-Up 2 pull handle, make sure you loctite (blue 242) all the grub screws to the handle. The vibration will eventually shake them off if you don't. I found out the hard way. Luckily, I had some 10-32 screws laying around until the grub screws came in. Apart from that, the design is solid and makes it easier to pull the rack up and down if you have multiple trays.

I moved my gas tank from inside under the pax seat to the rear with an aft fuel fill which required a 12” hitch extension so I could fill it with bikes on the rack.

I've been wanting a new rack for awhile and always liked the Kuat. I found this one at a thrift shop the other day for $75. It had a damaged part and was missing the keys for the integrated lock. I played that up a little and offered them $50, which they accepted. The part was available from Kuat for $20 and the keys were $19. It beats the hell out of paying the $698 suggested retail!

I did the same exact thing as you. Got the broken part replaced from Kuat and it's GTG. The only downside of this rack is that my MTB is just a tad too long for the trays but it'll do as a shuttle rack only when I have another person to drive the second vehicle.

Kuat offers a tray extension for the Sherpa. If I recall correctly, it wasn't a bad price.
