Just copied my friend's Velocirax. I wanted one that carried just two bikes and our B.O.B. trailer and was offset to the US passenger's side of the Troopy back doors. I added a 2-inch receiver hitch to a swingout off my rear bumper.

Used scrap material left-over from old projects. Bought $20 in Velocirax bungees.

Haven't painted it yet. Gonna test it out for a few weeks, see if I need to add any features, then maybe get it powder coated some funky color.

Awesome. I've been kicking around an idea like that for a while. Damn barn doors suck with a regular platform rack.
Yeah, I have an old Thule and if I put it on the offset hitch, the bikes stuck out a bit too far on the passenger side.

I started putting it on an extension in the center, that way I could still get in/out of the back, but it stuck out the back an extra 18/24 inches. And, I didn't have a good spot for the B.O.B. except the roof, climbing up there gets old as well. Hope this solves those problems.

Nothing like a good ole 1up

I like the 1-Ups, a lot of my friends have those, but the horizontal-tray style just doesn't work with the barn doors. I've seen a few 1-ups mounted vertically on the back of sprinters van doors, but haven't taken the time to see how secure they are with bikes loaded on them. Is that something 1-up recommends/endorses?

The 1-Up rack has a spring loaded ball bearing on one corner of the male receiver end, you tighten with a tool and it takes all the slack out of the connection so it's like part of the frame, no movement or rattling around like a normal receiver mounted accessory. It does tilt down, even with bikes attached (starts to get limited if you have 3-4 bikes on the rack), your split doors might even swing open with the rack tilted as they are shorter than a full width door. You could also use a Rakattach or similar to swing the bike rack to the side so you have full access to the rear cargo area.

This is the vertical mounting I was referring to, guess you need a kit to do it.

I concur, thanks.

The 1upusa has an interesting characteristic behind the Casita camper we noticed this weekend. Due to the Dexter Torqflex suspension, this camper pogo sticks down the road and trail something fierce. I noticed that the front wheels are trying to rotate a hefty amount on top of the back and forth movement caused by the poor suspension of the camper. There used to be a shock mod kit offered by a company but it's NLA. 😡

When we return home, I'll see about slowing down the front wheels back n forth action a little bit. Here's a video I made while following the camper down the hwy after building the receiver and for its maiden voyage. New video by A. Ali - https://photos.app.goo.gl/naHnAy8mUDhHTUci6

How are you 1Up guys using the rack with the swing outs? I have a slee swing out bumper and it will not clear at all.
i've commented on the other thread that focuses on Slee (noted below), but after meeting with the gang from 1up at Expo East a few weeks ago and getting a real-life test-fitting the new design of the rack attach, i think i will finally have a winning combo. It just arrived today, so I'll be able to post some updates shortly. I hope this puts an end to the years-long drama of trying to have it all with bikes, swing outs and overland load outs.

I've tried a few other solutions and invested in the Wilco prior to this experience. . I'll update that one with the results once i get a chance to put it all on the truck.
here's the other thread: Hitch mount bike rack and slee bumper w/ swingout

I don't even own a 1up yet but I know that's what I'll get. I had Dave add a receiver tube on one swing out so the tray will swing out of the way to get into the back of the truck.

wish i had done that. now i’m in the middle of deciding if i add one myself and get the basket re powder coated or get one of the 1UP swing outs. they’re pricey but i could at least use it on different vehicles.

Well, I took the second row out and built a dedicated pull-out bike tray. Holds my gear, too. Works great and organizes my crap.

Nice hardtail! How do you like the Moxie??

Hoping to build an aggressive hardtail this winter.
Love the Moxie. I had the Sirius before it and that had ridiculously low stack height. This one fits great and can handle all kinds of terrain.
