Mot (or anyone), can you please post the overhead console...

There is power at the sunroof motor. You can tap in there. The roof is not wired for the console or the field sensor. The sensor needs to be in the roof to get it out of all the "noise" of the steel shell of the vehicle and it has to be positioned properly. In addition the bracket that Mot posted the illustration of is non-magnetic.

One last dumb-assed question: is the sensor designed to be seen from inside the vehicle, or does it mount between the headliner and the sheet-metal? I ask because it's finished like an interior piece.

It has a visible cover.

ok so now if someone was to take the 4runner inclometer and altimeter gauges and put them in one of these pods, would there be any need to wire anything in or was all this wiring stuff for the compas.

You can see the "visible"/matching cover in the plastic sack in the above pic I have posted.

There's no additional wiring required for the altimeter or inclinometer. The only wiring required is for the backlight.

But...... Without having actually handled one of these 80 series overhead consoles, I suspect they are not big enough to accommodate the mechanism the inclinometer uses. I've had the SR5 pods in other trucks, and they need to be about 3-4" deep because of the junk inside.

Maybe that's why they didn't put the inclinometer in the overhead console.

Just FYI I have a clinometer/altimeter out of an over seas market (Non US anyway) 90-95 4Runner (Hilux Surf over-seas) I got mine off e-bay from New Zealand for about $70 with shipping. It is 9" wide 3" deep and 3"tall. And the housing had plenty of room for trimming around the bottom which it needed because the dashes slope the opposite way from ours. being right hand drive.....

Does anyone know if these were available in South America?

Possibly, Chile...

Chile has no offical importation of Cruiser around 20 years .. 80 series are very very unusual vehicles over there ..

there is one of those on ebay at the moment, item no 170084592718

I have the interior altimeter compass console , but no other parts or instructions. I want to put in my 97 FJ80. It replaces sunroof control console. I think I was ripped-off on ebay as all inquiries to seller go unanswered. Might anyone know what other parts are needed, where they can be purchased and installation instructions? This is my first posting. Please do not be brutal if I posted this in the wrong place on the site. Thanks.

I have it all for a complete DIY install.

Check my post here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=138565

1. Magnetic field sensor
2. Compass/altimeter overhead console
3. Mounting bracket :):):):)
4. Complete wiring harness. :):):):):)

3 & 4 are very important; makes install much easier.

Will only sell as a complete package.
