Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

SOLD - 2013 200 Series - St. Louis, Missouri: OFF THE MARKET - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2013-200-series-st-louis-missouri-92-xxx-miles-in-immaculate-condition.1293525/#post-14639584

@VWEeplusa, I wanted to respond to the comments made on your thread here so as not to clutter your ad.

I can understand the frustration on both sides.

Allow me to share some perspective from a buyer that's been combing this subforum for many months: I think that all the buyers that frequent the classifieds here are a bit frustrated with how an overwhelming number of the sellers here are loosely motivated and typically bake in a several thousand dollar premium to their asking price. Why else are these ads sitting for weeks with no activity - even months? I'm as much a free market capitalist as they come, but I think there are many sellers here that are overpricing their vehicles for the purpose of making lofty returns from their fellow Mud members in a market that has so obviously softened. This is seen by most as contrast to the MUD community culture. I'm not saying that this describes your situation.

There are several motivated buyers on this board right now that have been in the market for a long time - I think that what's behind the sensitivity. They/I are/am ready to get into a vehicle and we're all weary from the unrealistic, unsuccessful WTB ads that have littered this board over the last several months.
I appreciate the input. Just now saw it as well, so apologize for the late acknowledgment.

My position is this:
1.) Mud members tend more often than not to be willing to utilize their rigs off road, modify their rigs, etc, and therefore aren’t as sensitive to condition and miles. That majority tends to be not as eager to pay top dollar with this in mind.
2.) The percentage of Mud members who are like me and won’t take their rig off road and who revel in having as close to perfect a condition as possible trends lower. We are out here, but we certainly aren’t as common, as after all, the term ’mud’ isn’t even in our lexicon!
3.) No buyer is not looking for a bargain regardless of what they claim.
4.) Value of Land Cruisers varies greatly across regions of the US.
5.) Used vehicles, especially those of higher value but also with risk of having been offroad are difficult to gauge from afar.
6.) I comb all the different sites and apps constantly (that as well as combing Zillow and Realtor apps are my favorite evening activities). I have owned Land Cruisers for the past 8+ years and have been in the position for the past couple years of always looking for that perfect low mileage, mint condition unicorn and when I find one, I will purchase it. This was / is one of those Land Cruisers.

It just so happens I recently found a 2015 w only 50K miles on it with a California background that was as clean and as well cared for. The low mileage really grabbed me, because I want something for when the Rivian comes that can serve as a back up that won’t depreciate and can be kept at low miles. Because I couldn’t make up my mind between selling my 100 series or the 2013 200 series, I figured I would start with the 200 Series. Now, here’s the biggest factor…..I DONT HAVE TO SELL THE VEHICLE. Do I think its worth $49,500.00 knowing everything about it, the care it receives and the daily pampering and perfecting I tend to do? ABSOLUTELY. Am I in a position to not sell a vehicle I really love unless I get what I am asking for it? ABSOLUTELY. So at the end of the day, I am NOT trying to milk a Mud member to pay premium prices. Simple fact is I am willing to sell if someone acknowledges its condition, value, care, etc, and not willing to sell otherwise.

Ultimately, no one has to agree with me. Although, a few folks on here came awfully close even without seeing it or driving it. I take no offense with anyone disagreeing with me. I welcome the debate. However, when someone goes out of their way to attempt to sabotage another member’s ability to sell and pass bias off as legitimate discourse, I will respond!

The overall unfortunate aspect about it is that there are those out there claiming condition that doesnt exist and value that doesnt exist and hiding conditions, details, etc, as they sell. It appears to me that eBay is filled w that, considering the handful I have actually driven that I have seen sold on eBay and weighing the pictures against the actually conditions. I don’t want to be that guy, and am not that guy, so I go out of my way to make even the slightest imperfections shown and in detail. I don’t think that retracts from the value when they are so minor and minuscule as to not be noticeable, but I dont want anyone thinking I’ll try to screw them over.

Again, I appreciate your input. Thanks for taking the time!

Purchased my new-to-me 2016 TLC (Black on Terra) with 56k miles for $60,500. Texas vehicle from day one, two owners, paint in good condition and perfect mechanically speaking. The only issue was the steering wheel peeling which I'll be putting on a loncky cover soon.

Hell yeah man congrats!
I think that year and color combo is the best (may be biased)!

Solid deal.

Anybody gone and looked at this one? 2020 wreck isn’t great. Everything else seems to check out. Wonder what I’m missing….

I live in STL, thinking about going to take a look. What’s your issue with the 2020 wreck?

If you look at the front bumper the right side body line doesn’t look right. Like it doesn’t look the same as the left side body line where the bumper meets the fender.
thanks for the heads up. If i get down there, I'll look into it. at this price, seems about right for what I'm seeing offered everywhere else. what do you think?

Some dealers are clever at interpreting the carfax. When an incident reported in carfax, they call it is a damage and not an accident. their damage is always bumping into the garage door like he was there!

I know Larry Sapaugh. Was my neighbor until about a year and a half ago. I've never bought a car from him, but I wouldn't think he we would try to sneak something by anyone and he has a pretty good reputation in the St Louis area. I would, however, take a hard look, because a lot of dealers have the excuse of not looking too hard at the details, especially makes and models they don't normally sell (Sapaugh is a GM dealer and if it were that good, I'd think he'd try to trade it to the Toyota dealer across the highway). Without having seen it, I think thats a fairly high price for something showing with a minor accident car fax and to be as worn and used as the interior appears to be. If they aren't interested in doing a good detailing job on it, then they probably didn't dig into it too far structurally or mechanically either. Ignorance can be bliss for dealers. Maybe its just that it seems a little gross to me that it looks like someone has been sneezing on the gauge cluster for all 115,000 miles!

It’s not perfect inside. But it would be hauling a 3 yr old and 9 month old so perfect isn’t the goal for this purchase ( spilled drinks, snacks, just that stage of life right now). When they’re out of elementary school, I’ll invest in pristine. Right now just looking for bulletproof mechanically and livable inside plus non-smoking.Hard to explain having not seen it in person, just doesn’t look quite right on the body lines where the bumper meets the fender.

...just doesn’t look quite right on the body lines where the bumper meets the fender.

That fender definitely looks pushed in a little. If you look at that side straight on you can also see the separation between the hood and fender tapers to nearly touching in the last six or so inches. It's not functional or structural damage, and replacing the fender to 'fix' it would come with it's own set of issues (replaced panel, paint matching). The real concern with something like that will be when you're the seller and then everyone claims it's frame damage :hmm:

Yes, definitely higher interest rates and sky high inflation are probably beginning to have an impact on demand.

Let’s see what happens if or when the job market cools. Might get real interesting, but in a bad way. 🤷‍♂️

Four data points from SoCal:
1. Got a KBB buy it now offer for my 21 Heritage with 19k miles. Offer was a touch under 92k. Both dealerships I talked to we unwilling to increase their offer despite the XPEL wrap and dissent sliders on the truck.

2. At Carlsbad lexus a 2020 Lx570 was listed for 99k. Had only 7k miles.

3. At same Carlsbad Lexus a 2015 LX570 with 49k miles was listed for 56,999.

4. Carlsbad Mercedes had a 2019 LX570 with unknown miles listed for 69k.

I'm surprised they didn't increase the offer given the XPEL. Almost everyone on mud would be willing to pay more for sliders IMHO, the general public however may not be?

Ya not sure if I should just pop them off before taking it in.

Contemplating selling and waiting the year for a Rivian R1S. I don't use this thing for anything but a pavement cruiser and I feel like it's wasted on me.

Only wasted if you don't enjoy it.

There’s nothing unrealistic, uninformed or unwise about waiting as prices drop week after week.

Go have a taco and lighten up. We’re all friends here.

The cost of buying a used car has dipped 7% this third quarter — the worst decline since the beginning of the pandemic, data compiled by vehicle-auction company, Manheim, reveals.

edit: few things to add from watching the market, while pandemic increase went roughly around 30% above inflation, 10% or so inflation is there to stay. For sellers this means pandemic costs are tanking now, but your cost of ownership will still be offset by above normal inflation. For the rest, money are losing their value. The market is still stubborn to go into full correction and unclear if this will take few more months or years. I think there is still 7-15% correction to be made, the question is how long it will take. For example on 30K, 10% correction is another 3K down.

Further, cars that I would call weekend "project cars" above 10 years old with over 175k miles are the most stubborn to tank in costs, because of affordability crisis. There are not a lot of affordable cars and you get screwed most in this area. This can only be corrected by supply and demand. Older cars need more fixing, just remember that.

Also, LX 570 is best value 5-9k cheaper for same year and mileage compared to LC in sub 40K range.
