Let’s try this again, prior thread deleted, I assume they want to keep it clean, there was no explation given.

If you have sold a 100 series recently and want to share what you paid with details on truck this will be helpful for potential buyers currently looking.

This thread can be helpful for buyers looking to understand the market and different factors that come into play on pricing.

Please stay on topic!

I recently sold 2004 LX with 176k for 12,500. Truck was 9/10 on condition with full service records. Southern Vehicle no rust.

Since I just bought my first, wanted to contribute to help with pricing thoughts.

98 LX470
203,xxx miles
Black with gray interior
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Asking price: $10500
Final price: $10000
I’m now the 4th owner

Pros:
  • Recent service receipts for major items including timing belt and AHC overhaul
  • Great interior including received front seats with one of the self install kits (I think Ridies)

Cons:
  • More rust than I originally hoped for (spent its first three years in Illinois) but appears to be mostly surface on the frame/suspension
  • Rust is worst on the rear hatch and was haphazardly patched by the 1st or 2nd owner.

I am going to contact them to get some details.
Ok just got off the phone with the dealer. It has hail damage on the hood, radio and sunroof do not work. Mechanically he said it's very sound. Rust free. Said he's gotten over 500 calls on this car.

Bumping this to the top in hopes of getting additional insight to recent purchase prices and details...

I almost pulled the trigger on this one. Dealer is very helpful. We did a facetime walk around. This is totally rust-free, I saw it with my own eyes, albeit a facetime call. It has the Landcruiser suspension in it, AHC delete done. Needs nothing. The only reason I am not jumping on it is that I really want an 06-07 under 200K. and am willing to wait.
So I am waiting. BUT this lx is CLEAN

Yup, good price. Surprised it's still for sale...

Possible great find? What am I missing here? Southern 470 under 190k for 10 grand?

They're dodging pics of the second row except the zoom in on the arm rest and you can see the seat is in bad shape behind it. Third row seat tops and bottoms don't match. Black carpet, tailgate carpet redone.

My guess? Owner(s) cruised around with pets/dogs. I'd definitely ask if there were any odor issues.

I looked at that one also. Cosmetically it does not look well taken care of which usually means mechanically it was not either. The inside is filthy and reminds me of a flea market

Be prepared to wait a year or two. If anyone wants to buy anything, they need to do it now. Wholesale market (MMR) has spiked about $2500 in the past 2-4 weeks and it's not slowing down. NADA and Black Book are both revising prices upwards. Used cars were already in demand because of the pandemic. Now new car sales are sputtering out because of semiconductor and foam shortages -- this is driving more people into buying used and/or choking off the flow of trade-ins.

Gonna be a wild year.

There's a deal ready to be made somewhere ;)

Yea, I got just sold my mom's 4Runner to a dealer out of state for a $4k above what dealers were offering 6 months ago. Things are crazy right now. Just glad I was able to get her into something else before the used car market goes full-on housing market.

Going to check this 2000 Lexus LX 470 out tomorrow and think I might pull the trigger. They are asking 14K. 151K miles. No accidents on the CarFax Its from South Carolina so there should be minimal to no rust. Differentials and transfer case service at 149K. Brakes replaced at 138K. Yokohama Geolanders mounted at 136K. Water pump and timing belt at 129K. Starter replaced at 121K. Interior in clean. The paint is a little sun-faded but no the worst.

Availability is getting tight if BaT is letting this on the site...

Wow. I check BAT more than I probably should, that being said though I can't say I have run across a vehicle on there that has had structural damage.

I think this just shows BaT and CaB are normal commercial used auto enterprises more than willing to take advantage of a sellers market where the onus is on the buyer to verify the quality of what he/she is purchasing.

I think it speaks more to the LC market value than the state of BAT or CAB. They think the platform is valuable enough to list one with some major issue. This is not a good sign for people shopping but it is a good sign for the long term value of the platform.

Why in the world would someone do this?
