I would go with heavy's all around. My ride is pretty plush, almost like a pre-runner. I'm very happy with it and actually wish it could be a bit stiffer in street driving situations, but hey, these things weren't made for street performance so it's not a big deal. From what I've seen and experienced, heavy springs would be more suited up front instead of the rear since there is a slight rake that occurs (someday I'll get rid of the rake, but so far I still have little one). But if you stick with the OME you won't have to worry about a "kidney" killer, it will be fine. As far as how long did it take to smooth out? I don't know really, it's been over a year since the install and to be honest, it doesn't feel any different than the day it was installed. Was very plush from the get go, still a very plush ride today. I would highly recommend the dakar lift to anyone.

The shackles I went with were approx. 1.5" longer than the shackles that came with a Dakar Heavy lift. So, we figured it to come out to about a 3" to 4" lift overall. I think the Dakar lift comes with 2.5" shackles.

You've sold me on the heavies. it's not a cadillac, so as long as it isn't so bouncy/stiff - it's all good.

above - hmm... 1.5" longer than the 2.5" it comes with?!? The heavy lift comes with diff length shackles than the med kit? what length and brand shackle did you use?
I like the 4+ from MAF. anti inversion greasable.

So if i get the kit from Rocky Road (940$ for heavy) - what else do i need? comes with "Complete OME/Dakar Suspensions for 60 Series:
Includes F/R shocks, F/R springs, F/R Bushings, Steering Dampener"

keep bushings or replace with better? greasable ones with channels or just hype?

Rocky road guys were great on the phone and even offered to ship it direct from ARB which is just south of me - or i can pick up and save shipping!

20 questions - sorry! What would be the best setup w/ the kit from RR? i am sure i am missing something (likely several things).

thanks guys! FJKai - you ever in the area - owe you a beer or two

Oh no, definately not too bouncy or stiff (these rigs are pretty "phat", almost 6,000 lbs, so I personally think heavys are the only way to go). Trust me, I know, I had an older straight axle Toyota 4x pick up with a super stiff suspension lift back in the day, so believe me, I had big concerns about having another rough, kindney belt, stiff suspension lift. My dakar experience is not even close to being stiff and nasty. Very good ride!
I don't really remember everything that came, but basically what you listed sounds about right. I have the greaseable bushing, but who knows, in theory I guess having the ability to lube would mean easier/ less friction, so a smoother ride I guess. But are they really that much better? I don't have the experience to tell you one way or the other, IMO it can't be THAT much of a difference, but I don't know to really say. My longer shackles are from Downey Off Road. Not anti-inversion which would be nice, but for my needs (family outting rig) not a super necessity. My set-up was put together by David Dearborn (Urban LandCruisers) but I have also dealt with Kurt (Cruiseroutfitters). Both are really knowledgeable and good guys. Although it sounds like RR is helping you out pretty good too. Pretty easy install really, one of the easier project I've done. Me and Toy350 did the install on a Saturday/night and went pretty smooth. I recommend 4 burly jack stands, and at least 2 floor jacks to help. Start spraying some kind of bolt lube/ brake on all the nuts and bolts now and keep doing it up to the day of the install. It will make those bolts come off a bit easier. You might also get a hold of the two guys I listed here and see what they got going too. It's always better to have more info than just some info. Well, at least most of the time anyway. Good luck.
