Excellent. Put us down for an extremely good chance we'll be there. Only issue we have is friends from Europe are coming the week before. Hole in rock trail has been on our bucket list for years.

Working on @smittycrusher to join us. I've been on HITR twice, both times with him in his 80... hope he'll be able to join... knows the trail really well and can help us with logistics etc...

@TonyP Doesn't need to do the hike. I can just fly his drone down to check it out. :grinpimp:

It is great to see you all lining this up! I haven't committed because I have a lot in play this summer with possibly multiple road trips to the PNW, at least one towing our trailer, and part of it will be bringing my 90 year old father to Colorado from Oregon and back. So if it works out it will be a last minute call for me. In any case, I look forward to hearing and seeing pics/vids of the trip!

hah!
Well it turns out there's a chance I might not be able to make it at all. I might be somewhere else with lots of sand. I'll know more in the coming months.

Is that someplace you want to go or some place you would be "required" to go?

@TonyP Thank you for what you do man

Count us in as a maybe. I'll watch the thread as it develops. One night camping out in the July heat is ok, two won't pass. ;)

Needles is definitely on my wish list, but may be too far/long for this time of the year with the GF. We may also do Valley of the Gods on the way to CO, so that would take us in a different direction.

Twisting my arm to drive out from Atlanta to do HITR again? Ok, I am in! Well, I am probably in. It is truly my favorite trail of all time. I am planning to do Kokopelli on the Cruise Moab run if I can get in. Will probably keep the 80 in Denver so it will be ready for an early June Lockhart Basin, Shaffer Trail, ToW trip with a different group. I think it makes sense to keep the 80 out there for another month or so and join this group as well...assuming you will let a lowly 80 hang out with you guys. I will bring booze to share.

Nice! I knew it wouldn't take much to get your interest peaked! You got me at "booze to share".

For logistics just so you guys know what to expect. We camped in Hanksville which is 6 hours from Denver. Hanksville is 2 hours from the trailhead. Two nights on the trail, and then a 4 hour trek from the trailhead to Telluride and some cooler weather. I'm sure there are other options for meeting before hitting the trail, but the campsite in Hanksville is decent and it's a good spot to be able to hit the trail relatively early the next day.

@TonyP Take care of yourself

You can pull me off the list. Just got the dates for my "other" trip. Can't make this one.

Disappointed that you'll be absent @TonyP , but all respect to you brother.

I am going to order all the goodies next week. It will be fully operational for Moab. I am now thinking about sleeping platforms. It will be just Ang and I so we will be snoozing in the truck vs purchasing a RTT.

Boom
