I'd go with sliders before skids. Then you'd be fine. Maybe a bumper scrape or two but overall you'd be ok. The stock skids suck but they're decent enough for most of the Moab stuff we'll probably get into.

Completely forgot about my sliders, my mistake. I installed the white knuckle sliders a few months ago.

Can someone make this a sticky? Thanks.

I need to get on the ball and update some info on here

I did Kokopeli a couple of years ago in my FJ Cruiser, lots of fun. I did it after some recent flooding, Cisco Wash was impassable so we had to back track and find a way around. Also, the run up to Rose Garden Hill was washed out pretty badly so we ended up taking Onion Creek instead. Still a great multi-day trail. I also recommend the White Rim Trail, not as long and can be done in a single day if you want.

I love the idea of a long trail ride 2/2.5 days with a camp, let's do it! I am also digging Steen's Hole in the Wall trail suggestion, can we squeeze that in? If possible I would prefer that we start the long trail/camp excursion on Monday the 23rd as we are planning on rolling out of VA on Friday the 20th. It is a 2k mile/30hr trek for us so I am banking that we will get into Moab Sunday afternoon/evening. Let me know if this would work. Oh and get on the ball Willie! :grinpimp:

The Hole in the Rock could easily be 2.5 days. The fastest you could swing it would be 2 days, but realistically you'd want two nights minimum. It's not an easy place to get to so you are likely hitting the trail around noon first day, camp 1/2 way the first night, second day, go to the end, hike to the "hole" and camp that night. Drive out the next day... solid 7-8 hours to get to pavement and then 3 hours to the next sign of civilization. Worth every minute.

I'm game. Not sure about the hiking part though with my geriatric back and knee.

Let’s do it!

The hike is optional... It's kind of cool, but isn't an easy one. Going down is easy, up kind of sucks. Not that long. I think it's around 2 miles each way and the "trail" in spots isn't clear.

I'm definitely game to do it if the rest of you are. Don't want to push it on anyone though. I'll go anywhere and haven't been on many of the trails you guys are talking about. I do know HITR is a favorite of lots that have done them all and I've not been on anything more fun.

Isn't it going to be pretty miserably hot at the end of July in Moab and southern UT?
