worked more than I thougth I would this weekend.. spent 5 hours sanding on the parts I got back from blaster on friday... they all needed work... I had to help my dad on saturday and sunday, but on sunday night I did have time to finish all the body work and spray the stuff with epoxy primer... I want to sand down everything before sanding primer goes on... I can see the front clip and windshield frame for sure need more work as I am not happy with a few spots... not much just a little that will make a lot of difference in the end... want to get that winshield frame done first so I can bring that into the glass shop and get that all done so I am not waiting for that... I also got to get that radiator in for work.... lots to do...

not sure how much time I can spend this week.. seems like I am booking up fast.... :grinpimp:

pics to follow!

Why paint a 2F air cleaner, when you just bought a fresh F carb?

haha... funny you should ask... well with Bills PS brackets a F cleaner will not work... ( I really never checked it though, just took others words) I had planned on just trying that tonight.

what is funny is that I just talked to Steve earlier this morning because I dont think this one will work either based on how I have the hard fuel lines to my carb. They dont come in the same direction as the newer carbs.

so now I sit... with both a painted F and 2F air cleaner and with out some mods dont think either will work... :bang:

We left the conv. this morning as Steve would look at it when he came up here again (few weeks) so more to come on this issue...

any thoughts Jim?

The F carb does not have the shoulder for the air cleaner to sit on. F carb also lacks the center stud.

My thoughts: Use the F carb, air cleaner, intake manifold.
Mount a one-wire 79-later internal regulated alternator on the 75-87 upper RH alt bracket.
Then fab a little bracket to mount a PS pump down beneath the air cleaner in the air pump/alternator cradle.

That's how we roll around here.

spent 5 more hours on sanding and fixing spots last night.. I did get another 2 coats of sandable primer shot on everything. no pics... they all look the same... things look good this morning... I want to plan to sand them out tonight again...

The battle continues as I spend about 4 hours each of the last few night doing more work. Got sand able primer shot on Monday. Got the windshield sanded out on Tuesday, also shot color on Tuesday night. It came out good had one run that I was able to wet sand out with 2000 grit paper… I am brining it to the glass guy today… I am almost sure I am going to put one more coat of green on there… It is just not heavy enough around the top.. but I thought I would bring it in and do it after that… who cares if I got to tape it up. I am sure some damage will get don’t there so I will be able to fix that if it does.

Got the paint booth cleaned out last night also… fenders, hood, side skirts and front clip will all get more sand able primer this evening… then I am going to start cleaning my big shop as it is such a mess I can not stand working in there any more… plus I want to start to get ready for sand able primer on that truck…

Only a few pics as they all seem the same with what I am doing… sanding, painting, sanding, paining… hehe.. :D

Pic 1 the windshield frame in the back of the Honda… I am sorry I forgot to get a pic before I put it in there and I was not about to pull it out just for a pic… more to come when I get it back. BTW it looks like s*** in this pic... really... trust me in person it is nicer... stop by for a beer and I will show you!

Pic 2 just the stuff ready for another few coats of primer… I am really happy with how they look now.. :grinpimp:

Worked a lot this weekend… work on sanding for 2-3 hours on Friday night…. Shot some more primer Friday night… got up early and sanded for another hour and a half or so on Saturday morning before I went to my grandparents. Had to run to the paint store pick up more supplies and that is all I did on Saturday.

Got a full day in on Sunday about 12-13 hours. All body stuff…. I fitted the doors on… driver side went well.. only took maybe 45 min or so to get it exactly how I wanted it… the passenger side… well………………. That took over 3 hours to get right… it still is not as nice as the driver side…. I would guess it is off by between an 1/8 and 1/16 of and inch… so it is not bad and to tell you the truth don’t think anyone will notice.. fxxx them if they do… I am not spending any more time on a 1/16 of and inch on a FJ that the doors will probably be off more than on… I also think the body is out of square by at least that much anyway? I ended up having to grind a little off the body and little off the bottom of the door… but I am fairly happy with how it turned out…

here are a few of the doors

The hinges that bolt to the cowl are really fun....if you are a contortionist midget with :princess: fingers. Are there a lot of those in Minnesota?:D

Think I finished getting everything sanded hood, fenders, side curtains, and front clip… so I cleaned them up and threw 4 coats of green on them… then I cleaned the shop up so I can get ready to spray sand able primer on the body and cowl and finish that all up so I can put all that stuff on and get this thing finished up.

That windshield should be done today and if I can pick that up I am going to spray last coat of green on there and be done with that… don’t know how much I can work tonight as I sold my boat lift so I have to help the dude load it on his trailer……
