Saw that ad already. That seems a bit high on the price. NADA says 'Clean Retail' is $8,900, trade-in is $7k. Plus, Danise drove Ron's 100 last weekend, so you can probably guess what I'm looking for now.

Maybe I should take the day off Monday and go buy this one: 1999 Land Cruiser.

I can get a flight for $53 for Monday. It's got the rear E-locker and rear air. Reasonable miles. Carfax shows it spent its life in Boulder and Aurora so likely no rust issues.

Dealership site still shows $13,500. Two days ago the guy responded and the CL ad said $12,900. Now it's down to $12,300. It's getting tempting.

Hmmmmmm....

Then after picking it up you can pass by Slee and get some goodies before you come home.

BTW, any 100 series you look at, ask/verify if they have had the 90k service done (new Timing belt ). When it is done by a dealer, they usually put a sticker under the hood somewhere.

damage was limited to in front of the radiator

Funny, I see damage on the right quarter, right side of the bumper, and that passenger door is tweaked. But I guess I should take there word for it, eh?

If you want some good advice on the 100-series you can also talk to a guy named Shott's, call sign ShottsUZJ100. He seems to be an expert on the 100-series.

He's also an expert on the 80's. BTW, if you ask him, ask him the following questions:

1.) Atrac thing seems like a useless add-on. What is its purpose?
2.) If someone has found a way to have longer wheel travel other than the current shock options.

Maybe not really bad rust like in the Northeast, but vehicles live a hard life in the Denver area. They put some weird crap on the road during bad weather.

I would keep looking at Arizona, New Mexico, and just about anywhere in Texas. Even the ones on the coast don't have rust issues unless someone took the truck playing on the beach every weekend. Florida trucks are nice but it is a long haul. Ross' Tacoma came from the Seattle area and it was in perfect condition with zero rust.

Toyota database shows no record of a 90K service. The report has very little on it. It did have something about replacing coil packs at 132K in North Dakota though. Sales person won't call me back. Guess I'll keep on looking.

I agree with Mike. Go south, young man.

The nice thing about North Dakota is they used sand for traction on the roads, instead of salt (Of course that was 15 years ago, (not sure what they use now). Did you ask for pics of the under carriage to see what the rust may look like?

I've been checking out San Antonio and Austin as well. I just don't know if the added humidity is something to be concerned with on a 10 year old truck.

I would be. I was in Austin last week. The bridges (like where the bats are) were just as rusty as anything in Houston!

But if it was well kept, it might not be too bad. I'd worry if it was actively wheeled by someone from Austin or something, as the scratches would then rust. But a clean rig that simply was exposed to the air shouldn't be too bad--yet.

Having grown up in humid TN, I wouldn't worry about it on a well-cared for 10 year old rig. It certainly will have more surface rust than an AZ rig, but nothing that will be a problem. Besides, are you looking for a show rig?

New thread alert. Marc's quest for a new wagon has taken on a life of its own. I've moved the bits from the for sale thread into its own so Marc can receive more direct encouragement without the distraction of other junk for sale. Hopefully I moved all the posts.

Carry on.
