I also asked:

Q: Can the dimple step be extended the full length or modified in any way.

A: No, only as pictured

@Somebodyelse5 I think I should've clarified to MetalTech that I want raw and could care less about shipping scuffs & scratches (no dents of course but imagine that would be hard to do) Sounds like UPS would be ideal - $200 is significantly better than $400

For the Raw Steel sliders, do they need to be coated in any way prior to use? What's the reason to get a powder coated one vs. raw steel?

See if you can talk to Raymond, that guy has always been super helpful. I've ordered rear control arms and sliders for two 100's, always a helpful guy. Make sure you let him know you want the raw sliders and they should be cool with shipping UPS. Even if they do manage to get dinged up just remember, that's what they are for ;)

Raw steel has no fragile finish to be damaged during shipping, so they don't need to be packaged and on a pallet. The hardcore crowd does not powercoat their sliders since it is hard to touch up (you could just rattle can over the powdercoat, but you'll never match the color and finish) and I don't like the mismatch in thicknesses. Get raw if you plan to really use them (as in, you are going to drag them on trails, slide against rocks, hardcore stuff), regular touchups with a rattlecan is no big deal. Powercoat likes to chip and is harder to touchup (paints wont match). Definitely want some finish on them to protect them from corrosion, pick something that is easy to source so you don't have issues matching down the road. I ordered the raw OPOR sliders, hit them with MEK to clean, a good primer, and a basic semi gloss black enamel... they have held up for about a year, no paint issues (other than where I drug them over some rocks ;) ) I would budget 2 cans of primer and two cans of paint for each slider.

Hilarious that guys who routinely bash rocks into their sliders are conerned about 100% matching rattle can against Powdercoat. You’re likely scraping the bottom of the slider anyways so not like you would see the touch up.

To each their own I guess.

I just tried to use the GROUPBUY18 code for raw 100's, but it said it's invalid. What gives? I want these things! Now! ;)

Gotta wait until Tuesday morning

You are kind of saying that anyone who actually uses their truck (or tries trails that may be too hard for them) and USES their slilders for what they are FOR, shouldn't care about how their truck looks? Outside edge of the sliders see a good bit of use. That's why that kickout is at the back... most people don't want two tone sliders...

It doesn't take a bash to remove the coating, just scooting along a rock is going to remove it... might as well not spend the money on powder coating if you are going to touch it up with a rattlecan anyways...

If you only use your sliders as steps and do mainly mild overlanding stuff, powdercoat is fine, but in that scenario you also don't really need sliders anyways.

Sorry guys, I should have been more specific. Slammed at work and this thread took off today! I'll take the raw steel OPOR.

10 down... 10 to go.

List of 100 series guys planning on ordering sliders:

  1. mrbigboy raw steel OPOR.
  2. yosshaa raw steel OPOR.
  3. DanInDenver raw steel OPOR.
  4. wsudu is down?
  5. TTViper raw steel OPOR
  6. OB-1 raw steel OPOR
  7. Knowbuddy raw steel OPOR
  8. neilsen100 powder coated 100 series slides
  9. sammybones raw steel OPOR
  10. @lonecruiser powder coated 100 series sliders

I’m going to call Iron Pig Off-road on Monday. I see that they stock the regular metal tech sliders (exactly the same as OPOR?, they use the same advertising picture). Perhaps they can match the deal or shipping can be less expensive if shipped to that shop in bulk for anyone near Virginia, we could have a pickup option.

In for OPOR raw steel

If we don't get to 50, can I pick them up locally?

During my conversation I asked a few questions (nothing ground breaking) that may help others:

Q: Are there different lengths or angles being offered?

A: No, we now only fabricate one length and one angle (~10 degrees @Somebodyelse5 checking)

Angle shot as requested:

So I just learned that this buy applies to bumper's too. The sweeter part if you order separately then it counts as two separate orders and therefore could effect our discount. I am thinking of purchasing the Iron Man bumper. which would come out to $850 before shipping. As well as unpainted Sliders. Just some food for thought. Also remember there is potential to get better shipping on un powder coated sliders just call to make your order.

yosshaa, I'm also wanting to buy an unpainted set in AZ - do you want to combine shipping?

Totally, I was going to ship to my buddies business and try and get the commercial shipping discount since these come by pallet. his shop is located in north Tempe by the 101 and 202 (south of Tempe marketplace) if that works for you PM me and I'll reach out to metal tech about setting this up.

So what's the total price including shipping?

Depends on:
  • what sliders you get (finished or raw)
  • how many people follow through and order (discount amount)
  • where you live (shipping costs)

tomorrow, put slider in you cart, apply the discount code, see estimated shipping.... that is the most you will pay. as people order the discount goes up and people are refunded the difference. By all accounts, you COULD get a $100 shipping credit and an addtional 60-70 off.
