So for the folks who plan on painting their sliders, is the consensus to:
  1. Clean and degrease with Acetone
  2. Two coats of primer (what's ideal? I've seen zinc, rust inhibitor, etc.)
  3. Two coats of paint (again, is something more ideal for this application?)

Exact steps I took. Cleaning probably took the longest, but everything went on super smooth. Nothing special for the primer, but i went with self etching. With paint, the popular choices were hammered paint or engine enamel. I went with the pro series Rustoleum line after reading a few posts. They're going to get roughed up so I was more concerned about preventing rust with a few extra coats. 2 cans of primer and 5 cans of paint was more than enough to do the trick.

Email I received from MetalTech anticipated shipping would be week of July 4. I also want them for HIH.

For painting, I highly recommend VHT epoxy paint in satin black. It's the only spray paint I've found that will produce a glass like finish that can't be scratched off with your fingernail like other paints. It also does not need primer (recommends against using primer) so one less step.

No matter what paint you use, head to your local skateboard shop and buy a sheet of grip tape for less than $5. Be sure to only put the tape on the top and do not extend it down the sides as it will grab your calf hair and not feel good.

Appreciate it! Its on the development list, no exact ETA yet.
Please oh please make it low profile. Maybe something like the Thunderbolt for the Tundras.

I've been using the 3M version.

Sweet. I've been on the hunt for sliders. Just bought in. Going to pick them up as I'll be in the OR area when the next stock supposedly comes in =D.

Planning to drop in a raw steel order shortly. Thanks!

Ordering a raw steel set today
Thanks @MT4x4

Dropped my order in, now to wait patiently.. :coffee:

Does the shipping discount come off later (refunded)? It didn't happen in the checkout cart process. Thanks

Will these likely ship out in time for HIH in early July? In other words, that June stock date is generally pretty accurate?
Our ETA's are usually pretty accurate and we try to hold to them. We will be emailing you throughout the process to keep you in the loop and let you know if anything changes. Thanks!

Got mine on Saturday and painted yesterday. The only difficult part for me was the front brackets were really tight behind my ahc lines so I just stepped on them and bent them slightly larger to slip over the frame a little easier. The instructions indicate that the driver side may be harder, but was easier for me after doing the passenger side. Very happy with them.
