Do people tend to paint or powder coat the raw steels? I've ordered 'em raw and not need to decide how I finish them.

Anybody with kiddos in car seats have these? I really want to place an order, but want some opinions on me being able to use this as a step to place kids up into seats without doing a balancing act. Thanks for any feedback.

If I add an ironman bumper to my order with the sliders, will the $100 shipping credit still apply?
The $100 shipping credit will be applied to an order that uses the group buy code. The code only works on our Metal-tech 4x4 and OPOR bumpers and sliders. But other things could be included in your order. ;)

Folks who wheel hard and drag their sliders over rocks regularly tend to rattle can them. Easy to touch up and paint match that way. Just be sure to prep prep prep for the best results.

If you're not planning on that action, and want them to look their best then PC is probably a good choice. Downside with PC is that it chips, and can be difficult to match color if you touch up with paint. That, and it's a lot more expensive than paint!

So for the folks who plan on painting their sliders, is the consensus to:
  1. Clean and degrease with Acetone
  2. Two coats of primer (what's ideal? I've seen zinc, rust inhibitor, etc.)
  3. Two coats of paint (again, is something more ideal for this application?)

Very interested in a response. What’s the best process to rattle can.

@sleeoffroad has a page on the process they use to get the best powdercoat performance.
Slee - New Powder Coating Process

I was going to look at this as a guide for a process to use on the raw metal.

Basically as with most painting its prep, prep, prep.

I spoke with metal tech the other day and was told for raw sliders cleaning with a laundry detergent first and letting it completely dry before priming and painting is recommended .

I have bior step sliders powder coated black and the Rust-Oleum black textured paint for touch up has worked very well . They start to rust in a few weeks if not touched up . I'm thinking that same textured paint would work well as a final coat, it's not slippery . Still might need grip tape though.

Generally, if you are going to use them as sliders, paint them.

If you aren't really going to use them as sliders, powder coat them.

Powder coat is more expensive and will get scrapped off just like the paint when you drag them over rocks, paint is cheap and easy to touch up :)

If you guys had your 100 series front bumper released I would totally pick one up in this group buy!

For the slider install? It's super straight forward.... really nothing to it. Get them positioned with a jack and/or stands, get the u bolts on.

Will these likely ship out in time for HIH in early July? In other words, that June stock date is generally pretty accurate?
