Hagerty wouldn't do my 40 when I called couple years ago - so both my cars with USAA. I would like something more reflective of what 40's go for vs USAA - but it is fine too.

And I believe the thread starter has a birthday tomorrow....? Happy B-Day

I've got my 4 vehicles, 1980 - 2015, insured through Progressive but just two adult drivers. Insurance actually went down significantly when I added the 62/forth vehicle.
I am already preparing for a heart attack when I have to add my son  . Adding my daughter nearly doubled it a year and a half ago.
In the past I have reached out to Haggarty and when they found out that it is a Land Cruiser they asked if I ever take her off road and that basically if it is anything other then a glorified dirt road they would not cover it. I am just looking for suggestions.

JC Taylor or Grundy. Both were half the cost of Hagerty (who advertises a lot...). Both don't really want true off-road use. No one will cover significant offroad use, that I know of.
I will try those. I am not doing true off road driving. To me true off road driving is taking it out to Axle Alley, Four Dice, Rubicon and tearing it up and trying to break things. I do like to go out on a medium trail and flex the suspension a bit and get the articulation going. But even that companies are worried of.

That is correct, tomorrow I will be (an FJ)45

So my actual birthday was a bomb. The night before my son, youngest daughter, and wife all came down with a stomach bug and then about halfway through my work day I started to feel crappy. I came home sick and ended up driving the porcelain bus for a good chunk of the rest of the night. But by the time I went to bed I was feeling better. Yes there is a reason for this story. For my birthday I was given a steering wheel cover for Uma.

As I was getting ready to go put it on I saw on Facebook a meeting of the minds, literally. And me being a youngest child I got fomo. So I ended up texting @orangefj45 to see if he was still in town. He actually wasn't too far from my house and he was kind enough to come for a visit and look at Uma.

Georg is a super good guy and far too humble. Too bad that Uma was being a little diva and wouldn't start while he was here.

I wonder if he does house visits in the Prairie? Need to ask with that sweet 250 all wrapped.
He was in Tucson visiting @OGBeno and stayed with a friend in Tucson. I just happened to catch him on his way up to some shops in Phoenix. The wrap on it is for Terrain Tamer and he is going to Overland expo

Pretty sure my telepathic directions got blocked by the jet stream. Two of us were locked in mortal combat with an HZJ73 until 1:15 am and lost. So now I am recovering deep in the prairie - aka the land that time, tourist, and Californians forgot.

Cheers!

After @orangefj45 paid me a visit I got the wider pulley installed from the old 2F alternator.

Unfortunately the belt that I had was too long. I am getting a new belt soon and exhaust gaskets are currently on their way.

So I am reaching out to those who have done this, basically the same thing that I have done. If you have gone from an F to a 2F and gone to an Aisin / Troll hole style carb how did you run the throttle cable/linkages. I have come to the conclusion that until that gets sorted I could throw carbs at it all day every day but I will still have the same problem that the weak link literally is the link between the throttle and carb.

@65swb45 that is the visual representation of what i was trying to tell you over the phone

So I got a better throttle setup from Jon over at Spector off-road which is going to allow my throttle to operate more smoothly. So much better than the old cable pull that I originally had on there.

I also listened mostly to @orangefj45 and started solving the exhaust leaks issues. I have a new Remflex manifold gasket ready to go in. I am going to look at what exactly is causing the exhaust leaks although I think I know.

Well I have the new Remflex manifold gasket in and a new exhaust donut at the bottom of the header going into the muffler pipe and man is it a lot quieter. those made a world of difference. I have the "new" SOR throttle linkage set up and the throttle sounds and feels smoother. However last night on my test drive it is still a bit on the sluggish side. It feels as though it isn't getting the second butterfly valve to open. I don't know if I still have a vacuum leak or what. But I am under the gun to get it working right as my son is taking my daily driver to go to school. There is also some shifting problems that have been "fixed" a bit by lengthening my clutch slave cylinder push rod but not totally gone away.

But I was able to drive it.
