A little update....been daily driving it for the last couple of months and have put about 2,000 miles in. Everything is excellent except after long highway runs I get a little flare from 2nd to 3rd after stopping. Doesn’t happen all the time but semi regularly. Nothing major but not perfect so....back into the valve body and accumulator springs. Quite a few pages back when building the trans, I noted the springs were not as the manual listed. Have some new to me ones inbound so we will see.

My 88 has 378,000 miles and drives daily
Closer to 394,xxx by now. Might try to sell it soon. It’s got to be worth at least 14 grand...
 
So here’s the dilemma...the pic below shows the accumulator spring lengths, book, mine how they came out originally, and a 3rd party’s.
When I was rebuilding this one, I figured the last guy had mixed up the springs so I swapped C2 and B0 on reassembly. The measurements still didn’t match up but were closer.
Now, after a 2nd person sending me their spring measurements and C2 being the same....

Thoughts?

After reassembling the valve body with accumulator springs in their original configuration, the trans was still slipping from 2nd to 3rd. I ended up pulling the transmission back out to investigate. The clutches in the rear brake were pretty burnt. Upon further inspection and testing, the center support bushing was found to be worn and leaking pressure. We sourced a new bushing, actually manufactured in Sacramento, and purchased new friction disks and steels for the rear brake. Reassembled and reinstalled....it is now perfect. Shifts perfect and is solid.
