Knocked a couple more items off the list last night since the Astros game got postponed in Philly due to a little drizzle. First was the rear exhaust hanger and then i tacked together a front driveshaft. I used a rear shaft from some toyota i had and grafted the slip portion from 40 on the end. I think i have the runout dialed in, but like a dumbass, i dropped my dial indicator and it bent boom. Ill finish weld it once a new one comes in and i can check how out of round my eyeball check is.

Had a friend come over saturday to learn me some Tig welding. I spent an hour or so watching him and preacticing on scrap aluminim intercooler piping. I was starting to get the hang of it, but didnt want to chance it, so i had him do it for me. Man did it come out amazing. My fit up was perfect after the welding and fit like a glove.

with nothing left to do, i took Lucille for a spin around the block for the first time in over a year. The short driveshaft didnt vibrate at all. The boost at ~6psi is so much fun and terrifying in this thing. It ran cool at 185 the entire time. Only issue i had was not sealing up the third member good enough up top in about a 1/2" spot. It blew diff fluid everywhere. Doh. Fuel pump is also a screamer. Going to have to fix that too.

Hey mate that's some nice work you have done, Should be fun to drive. I bought a Walbro 460 for my turbo 1FZ and when deciding on what fuel pump to buy l looked at the 255 but everyone complained about them being noisy. I have been having issues with my Walbro 460 and just bought a Denso pump which is rated to 255L/Hr and its super quiet. Still to do some testing but l'm sure it will be a good thing being Denso.
I also noticed your wiring loom is quite close to your turbo, maybe consider moving this as they produce a lot of heat.

Do you have a part number for it? Is it an in-tank pump or external? The only reason i went with this one is beacuse i had it on the shelf. Even with it inside the tank is crazy loud at idle. I dont hear it as much when im driving it, but it defintely needs attention.

Thanks for the info. I’ll take a look at it and compare. I fixed the rear end and took it for another test drive. No more leaks. Fuel pump still dumb loud. Lol. Man thing is a blast.

Built a screamer pipe for the wastegate. Gave it a little peekaboo out the fender.

Love this build. Patiently waiting for a video of it driving with some phssssheeeww noises.

Long time no update. I finally figured out why the engine would fall on its face under boost and im not real proud of this, but the tiny ass fuel filter i installed post pump was my problem. It was clogged with sludge and after i swapped in a new and larger fuel filter, it runs great again.

Took her out on the annual testical festival s***box run and it ran great, but did develop an overheating issue. I think the crap amazon fan is my issue.

Main reason for the updates is that its time to change out the box on wheels suspension. After 100 miles of hill country back roads, your kidneys really feel it. I am trying to keep this ultra low budget with all used takeoff parts. Minimal lift , if any.
So the plan is as follows:
FJ80 radius control arms front and rear.
Fabricated track bars with heim/bushings front and rear.
Takeoff bilstien/fox shocks from something.
Bumpstops.
Maybe a swaybar if needed.
TJ coils up front, 4runner coils of some vintage in the rear.
Use a 2nd gen 4runner axles housing for the mounts on the TG axle i have now.
Convert over to saginaw powersteering with a CJ5 box
Add the 3rz PS pump and pulley back to the engine.
New radiator and taurus fan.
Maybe 35s, but id like it to stay on the 33s it has now.

Hopefully i can keep all the suspension parts less than $500. Ill cut all the brackets on the table or get them from ruffstuff.

First piece of the puzzle is the first set of FJ80 Radius arms ($50)

I just realized who this truck belongs to. Follow you on IG and have drooled over a couple of your builds in Irate. Looking forward to seeing these updates come to life!
