All,

Does anyone know if there are Maxtrax and High Lift (48") jack mounts that would work on a 2011 200 stock/factory roof rack? I am not looking to drill into the factory rack, something that would clamp on would be ideal. I can get away with cable ties and ratchet straps for my Maxtrax but do not want to mount the high lift on my front ARB bull bar. Any info would greatly appreciated!

Get some Yakima or Thule cross bars for your factory rails and attach the high lift jack with some U bolts from the hardware store. I have done this on other vehicles and the jack travelled well.

I remember Christo Slee saying something on the 100 forum about Yakima MightyMounts used in conjunction with something... but for the life of me, I cannot remember!

Not a bad idea - My factory rack has cross bars. Are you referring to the Thule/Yakima square cross bars vs. factory due to the U bolt design (better fit with square cross bars)?

I have seen high lift tubular mounts (1-2" or 3-4") that work on ARB bumpers. I am wondering if standard U bolts would secure the jack on factory/aero/not square cross bars

Actually, IMO, if you're going to use U bolts the round Yakima cross bars would be best to use. The cross bars would attach to the factory rails via clamp on feet that are soft and non scratching. The Thule option would be the same except Thule has square bars like you said.

U bolts are cheap, I will scoop a few up and see if I can mount it to my factory cross bars. If not I would definitely consider the Yakima/Thule approach

Yeah, if you can find some U bolts that are wide enough, it'll work. Nyloc nuts would be better to use than wing nuts. The jack, where it will lay and the U bolts will scratch the factory bars just so you know.

I agree that if you want to use U-Bolts, the Thule or Yakima cross bars are better, but if you want to use your factory crossbars, I would buy a set of the Yakima MightyMounts and then use a longer bolt to extend up to hold the jack. As for the Maxx Trax, I am not sure how those mount up.

Nice. I had not heard of these. You could probably attach Maxx Trax with these too.

Please, never install a lift jack on your roof. For one it can kill someone if you get in a wreck and it goes flying. Also, it can come lose and go into the rear window of someone in front of you when you slam your brakes. So much can go wrong and it's not worth putti others at risk. They are meant to be mounted on the rear of your vehicle.

It would be bolted on/roof mounted during muddy off-road situations only. Not planning on driving thousands of miles with it on the roof.

Don't mean to be a worry wart but have seen some pics of actual lift jacks in the rear of car windows almost decaptating the rear passenger and some have but never saw those pics. Having friends in the highway patrol never shocked by what they see but love giving the details.
