Curious if anyone on the forum sells rebuilt or rebuilds the manual steering gear box. I've done the list below and still have 2-3" of free play and it's leaking pretty good near the pitman arm. Steering is pretty light if turning left, and noticeable heavier if turning right. Alignment shop suggested replacing the box.

  • All new TRE's and drag link
  • Center Arm rebuilt
  • Aligned by me, then professionally aligned
  • New wheels and tires
  • New Steering Stabilizer
  • Complete FJ60 front disc brake swap (both knuckles completely rebuilt)
  • Steering Box adjustment nut adjusted in

Mine was shot also. Got a rebuilt one from eBay. So far so good.
They will send out a rebuilt one and you send back your core.

Following as my steering box does the same thing. Very difficult to the right but smooth and easy to the left. Note I have not done all the other work you did either.
