I was under the impression that Maltec was one of the premier Land Cruiser builders but the first 3-5 minutes of this video leads me to believe otherwise. I’d like to think that the issues mentioned in this video are “one off” and doesn’t represent the company.

It’s a pretty long, convoluted story. I was involved in the post-mortem of the Maltec rig. IE: I did all of the work on the front end.

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.

@OGBeno …. “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.”
————————————————————————————
Just to clarify, what part am I not to believe?
1) Maltec does professional builds?
2) The issues on this vehicle were not presented accurately in the video?
Thanks

They are content creators, why don’t you contact them on social media and ask about their experience.

Cheers

I always found Maltec to be Instagram vaporware basically, with well known mudders promoting them here I assume with a financial motivation. Seems like they abandoned their US goals at least? Been a while since I heard about em.

My level of curiosity isn’t high enough to pester them. 😊

Hello,

Remember that German-made stuff also breaks. And when it does, it is in a spectacular manner.

On the other hand, crooks are everywhere, even in Germany.

Did we just invoke Godwin’s Law?

Live work wander. I missed the work part. What do they do for work?

I got nothing. Skimmed the video :meh:

So did I. Skimmed the video that is. Been doing that a lot to those type of videos so I am probably missing stuff.

What I gleaned: the original German built 70 was illegal. Company promised to build a new replacement but they did a crappy job. German people and American people become friends, together they rebuild the Maltec Cruiser. Then they go driving around in cool places and grind they're own coffee. They also rescue a rancher in Utah. His Dodge is stuck. They drive around some more. They carry a whole lot of crap on their vehicles. The white 4Runner pulls a large overlanding trailer, because, hey, the folks source their income from overlanding videos so gotta look the part.

Well that answers the work part.

That sums up about 90% of the “overlanding” videos on YouTube . Well done. 😁
