I'm working toward getting some bead locks for the sx's, and a set of 37"mtr's so I can get back to enjoying driveing my rig around town. As it is now, it's either in my garage or going onto the trailer to get it any where.
aw
Hydro Assist is ordered, Thanks Mike! Both kits seem to be the same so $$$$ was deciding factor.

Alec, if you find a good price on either the beadlocks or the 37" MT/R's please share the info. $188 for the MT/R's and ~$80 for the DIY beadlock kits seemd to be the best I've done so far. I'm sure gonna mis driving if I don't get the tires smoothed out.

Working on some 60 series 3" lift springs and some spring hangers now.

My GAWD what have I done :grinpimp:

The hydro assist is here, should go ont he rig today or Monday. Thanks FoxFab for a super-fast shippiing! Once the brackets are welded up I'll pull the gear box and pump to mod them.

Had to put the steering stablizer on it so I could drive it. Seems to have taken care of the death wobble. 15x8 rims should be Tuesday and the Long's Beadlock kits ship Monday. I dang near bought on a set on eBay for $65 a wheel. Sort'a got discouraged when the guy wouldn't answer email then wanted $40 to ship the kits. Long's price of $85 per INCLUDES shipping. They also support the TLCA, TT and Cruiser community so I support them!

I may have a set of 60 springs from CCOT :fingerscrossed: Hope hear back from Gaylon Monday! Then I can measure it for shocks.

Pics as soon we start welding.

Steering stabilizers are band-aids. You need to figure out why you had DW in the first place.

I would look at caster angle, steering linkage first.

Otherwise, I really like the direction you're takin the truck-right where I plan on taking mine.

Yep, but I had to get into the shop to some work on it.....unusually cold weather the last week or so. I'm waiting to get the front springs flipped to set the caster angle and once the beadlocks are on I'll spent some time matching up the tires and trying to get a better balance on the rim. May get the springs flipped today if I get enough honey'do's done.

I finally got the front springs flipped, knuckles overhauled, bearing preload is at ~10# with the fishscale. If I'm reading the caster correctly it's about +3.5*. Got the beadlocks built and tires mounted. Hydro-Assist goes on this weekend I hope.

Drove the 40 to work last night and the steering wheel was turned about 180*, and the death wobble is worse now then before  It started about 34 mph and who knows what it would have done without the steering stablizer on it.

I'm taking the tires in today to try and get at least two of them to balance and they'll stay on the front.

Any other suggestions????

Mike.. I"ve got the same issues.. Found it at Moab.. Called woody, he laughed told me to pull a valve stem for starters and go low on pressure.. Same thing he told you above..
I added 8* of caster at moab.. YES.. 8* just to try it.. Didn't help all that much.. I can get to about 30mph now.. I have a certificate for an AGR rockRam at the house which I'll do..

My thoughts are.. I have way too much spacer on my truck.. With Woody's old 2" backspaced wheels and the ifs kit it's superwide..And I need Hydro assist.
I found the swampers are not round nor straight.. Jack one up and spin it! You'll see what I mean.. WE added about half inch toe in to see if that would help. NOPE..
So .. My plans are hydro assist and FJ60 front axle to get rid of the spacers.. For now I just drive slow.. The distance from my trailer to my driveway isn't that far..
When you get closer to the hydro assist tapping of your ps box holler..

Lets see.....I did all my intial testing without the stablilizer, got it close, then added that for the final touch....

knuckle preload...
tie rod ends (or in my case, a couple new heims)
retorque the box to the frame...
tire pressure....all 4
golf balls inside the rims....
caster in the +3/+4 range
spring/shackle bushings (all junked again, of course)
u-bolt torque, worth checking center pins to...

i run my 38.5 tsl sx at about 15lbs. i had death wabble , but after putting on the stabilizer . i have never thought about it again . i have ran it this way for the past 4 years . i can run it up to freeway speeds no problem .quite often drive 400-500 miles in one trip . i did do cut and turn about 4-5 degrees . i actually bought these tires in portland oregon . guy chucked them on the truck and i drove home all the way to vancouver b.c. canada did not have much of a problem at all . just alittle hairy in the big rig tire ruts sometimes ,but otherwise the tires have been great .

Look's like my rig :D Where did you get that cool front hoop? I would like to have one of those ;p :bounce: :bounce2:

I had the same problem with the death wobble that you are having. I finally solved it by adjusting the toe-in. I started with 0" then adjusted it a little bit at a time until it went away. I think it is 1/2" in now. But be sure all the knuckle studs are torqued to spec. I torque my studs before and after every run! I also run a high-steer system with 1 ton gmc ends, which, to be honest, didn't make a bit of difference with the DW.

Great! Thanks :bounce: That was quick. Another cruiser head on the net on a saturday morning ;p

Whoa! Who made those beadlocks??

Ah, OK. I see "Long's Beadlocks". Is there a website?

For some reason they don't have them listed right now, but I'd call 'em. IMO best kit on the market.

Oh and that tire/jerry can/axe/shovel/hi-lift carrier on the back is prolly coming off after the Ramble.

no problems till 50 ish MPH it is not exactly DW like normal DW, balance and tire design. swap front to rear or play with them, find someone to load balance the tires (yuck but i works), check for how much out of round ( but IMO do not have it corrected)

Almost all cases bigger tires does not cause DW, it just amplifies it.

using HA to lockout death wobble, i guess works, but could still have tire wear issues.

I checked the toe-in tonight when I got home and it's zero. I'll adjust it to about a 1/2" in the morning and see if it helps.

Erik - If you keep the 2" BS rims and dump the IFS kit let me know. I'm still stock width up front

KOWBOY - I tried leav'n the dang thing at Katemcy at least three times....along with other misc. parts.
