LX470 NonAHC Rear Coil?

I don't have anything to add, except that I am very interested in your findings. I don't believe any of the folks that have put non AHC coils on a heavy AHC vehicle have testing neutral pressures after...or at least I don't recall seeing the numbers. I personally would be one of the folks advising against it without additional weight on the rear, even with the AHC lift, especially with your numbers where they are. From my too many hours on MUD, reading random threads, I'm just afraid you situation is going to result in a harsh ride and the system being unable to fully lower...

Ride is subjective though and everyone's results vary based on their exact usage scenario...so again very interested in the results. Make sure to let us know what you decide and how it works out...

@codertimt , I am starting to think that adding 30mm spacers to my current AHC rig would result in factory spec pressures. Anyone know where I can get a good set of 30mm trim packers to put on the vehicle?

At first I was against this due to adding another possible point of failure, but there is not really anything out there that is between non-ahc and ahc spring/spring rate. Unless I can find some old non-AHC springs??

I have begun reaching out to members, if anyone wants me to post detailed pictures, with my techstream before and afters, using the non-ahc, I would definitely do this! Just, if you can, help me find some non-ahc old springs! These guys putting on OME systems would definitely have some!

I just went through the same thing. Didn't want to hack the system and go standard but wanted to be able to add weight. I just put king springs KTRS-79 on mine. The rear pressure went from 7.1 to 5.0. These spring are made for the AHC system but are stiffer than the stock AHC springs. The only drawback is that they are hard to get in the states. A guy is selling them on ebay for $300 shipped.

Rear pressure is at 5.0. Its lower than spec but the ride seems fine. This is with no added weight.

Yes, I can still drop to low. it does take a bit longer than before since the system really has to lower pressure to get there but it works fine. Again this is with an empty truck. If you are at 8 Mpa you need a lot of help. I tried 10mm packers and it made no difference in the pressure. 30mm might not get you back in spec but it is a cheaper option.

Snagging some lc100 non-ahc from the dealers after work today depending on this question.

@jjrowe or @TXLX100 , do you know if I got lc100 non-ahc, how they would compare to the KTRS-79 springs you linked??

lc-100 springs are heavier, how much I don't know but they are thicker than the king springs and more tightly wound. I considered going this route and found some springs for $50 but I just think they will be way too stiff for a standard height truck. I know others have done this but they also added a lot of weight and raised the vehicle. If you do go this route, it will be interesting to see what your pressures are.

@joelikessno , I reached out to them today twice via e-mail and phone. They answered my e-mail, but they did not read what I had to say, and provided me with a generic response.

Going to call their office in AZ today.

I am worried, however, that they will not be stiff enough. I have a gentleman who is going to sell/give me some 1999 LC100 springs. I think that this will be a better alternative.

Does anyone know if the 1999 UJZ100 LC rear coils will fit the 2004 LX?

You would think so as the same part number for the coil (48231-6A660) is being used from 01/1998 till 07/2007 on the UZJ100 Cruiser.
I ouldn't think that the seatings for the coils are different between the LX and the LC.

I am not an authoritative voice in the matter, but I will say that yes a '99 non-AHC spring will fit just fine. In fact, another option is 80 series springs. They are supposedly a little bit lighter in regards to spring rate than the 100 series springs...and they will fit just fine. Although I believe they are left/right specific on the 80 and need a 10mm spacer on one side... I would grab the the old '99 springs you have a line on and try them out...good luck.

I just traveled this road. I bought an '04 LX470 with 94K on the clock. Pressures with stock suspension measured over 8.0MpA. I adjusted sensors to the top and gained approx. 1.5" lift, and at the same time added Slee's 80 series spacers. This dropped rear pressure to 7.2MpA - still above spec. I have since added a Slee rear bumper with dual swing outs, can carrier, and that carries a 275/70/18 spare tire, so I knew the pressures had increased. So, I sourced some 80 series rear springs from a 1997 LC and installed them, effectively dropping neutral pressure on the rear to 5.5MpA. I have no problems dropping to low, and I can rest easy while carrying my kids that pressures are still in the safe zone. I plan to do an AHC fluid exchange in the near future and expect this to help the slightly more, but I fully endorse the 80 series rear springs.

FWIW, I also have an ARB combo bar up front, OPOR sliders, and have cranked the TB 15 turns resulting in 6.5MpA. I still have some more room on the TB bolts, but I have some used non-AHC TB that I'll probably swap in at some future date - probably when I add a winch. I've used the all-knowing search function hear on MUD and am fully aware of the limitations of an AHC lift, but for my current use I'm very happy with the setup.

So far I've been happy on rough roads, but I haven't done anything too extreme. After reading posts on here, I thought it would be more bouncy, but it actually rides near stock. The only difference is the front TB's are so loaded that they feel like they have too much rebound, hence the need for heavier TBs in the future.

Seems like people are looking for pics for a TB adjust and a Bleed, so maybe I will provide a HowTo on this with pictures while I am at it.
