About a year ago I bought a beat up Lx470 for $1,000 and put a lift on it, and I don't to deal with it any more. I want to sell it or just keep it as it and beat on it till its totaled as juts a random fun vehicle, but I lost the key and can't seem to find it. I called Lexus and it costs like $800 to replace it, so I was wondering if anyone had a cheap way to hotwire it, or do a push to start. I tried to do it myself, but it has really good anti theft for the 90s. Any ideas of what to do, or offers to buy it for parts(I don't have time to part it out but would sell it as is)?

without a key I don't think you'll be able to steer it as the column will be locked.

@Mauser (or a local locksmith) should be able to reset/blank/virginize the ECU (to get around the immobilizer electronic theft protection), and the dealer parts department or a locksmith should be able to cut a physical key from the VIN.

If you can solder a small surface mounted eeprom I can send you one. Then you can get the keys cut from either the VIN or the key code on the lock. That would be the cheapest.

800 is for replacing all the locks. Mine was missing the master key also and the dealership told me the same what they told you. What I did is that I asked the dealership for the key code. They gave me the key code after seeing the ownership documents and my ID card. I bought a genuine uncut key for 130 from eBay and took it to a reputable locksmith. I gave locksmith the key code and the locksmith cut the key using the key code and he programmed the key to to the ECU using his computer. Programming and cutting key cost me 100. Locksmith told me if I had used his aftermarket key it was going to cost me less but I didn’t want aftermarket key.

I’ll definitely have to look into that, thank you.

I know this is possible with the latter years (03+ maybe?). I do not think this is possible with the early years. The early 100 series immobilizers are quite robust. Short of desoldering that chip I don't think there is a workaround.

The $800 charge is likely a new ECU and remote, not the physical key locks, imo. It's the immobilizer and key pairing that's hard part. The physical key pattern is stored by Lexus and readily available to cut by Vin (or the key code engraved in the locks).
