Yep, no noticeable stutter or lag. Quick app switching and hasn't felt RAM constrained at any point.

Gaia GPS is my absolute favorite app and I've had no issue with zooming, viewing terrain in 3d, etc. I doubt you'd notice any difference between the models.

It's hardly the same type of solution (continues to use old LX screen, audio system, etc), but a Grom VLINE VL2 works super well. I've had mine for a couple of years now and I'd buy another if it died. It does at least deliver a modern interface in CarPlay or AA, etc.
Agree. I couldn’t recommend the Grom unit enough. The screen definitely feels clunky at times but not enough to really bother me AND I’m using wireless CarPlay in an ‘04 car… and it still looks original.

n=1 here and absolutely no storage or performance issues with the 64/4 unit. I regularly run Torque Pro and AA at the same time, so my use case is heavier than your "only CP".

My only hindsight item - I thought about plugging in a digital co-ax cable for a future external amp upgrade. Now about to do that (Alpine Optim8) so will have to pull it out again.

Just on 2 years in and after a few software upgrades it's working perfectly. Wireless AA and CP are virtually seamless.

I went with the 32GB version and have no regrets.

The USB connectors are routed to the glovebox which is connected to a large capacity USB flash drive. Offline map data is stored on the Teyes, and all music files are on the flash drive. Another nice bonus is file transfers are way easier since you can just take the flash drive inside and connect to a computer.

Thank you both for the replies. The Flash drive is a great idea if more room would be needed. I dont really have much of a use for watching movies in the truck (my 5yr old generally watches that stuff on an ipad or portable dvd player) and I typically have all of the playlists/music I listen to downloaded from Spotify to my phone. Pretty much just looking for a Carplay/better screen solution as the 100 is my wifes daily driver.

What accessories were people buying with this? I pretty much just want bluetooth calling and the back up camera to work.

I got the Teyes CC3 installed in my 2003 LX and everything is working pretty well. This forum has been a great resource in navigating the purchase and install! I have an issue I am hoping you all can assist with.

I can't figure out how to get the AC snowflake to pin to the screen. So far the only way I have found to access the climate controls is through the vehicle settings app. I saw an earlier post saying you can pin the snowflake through Touch Assistant > AC Protocol > Start assistant when turned on. I tried this but this is all I see in the Touch Assistant.

Is there supposed to be another menu past this screen?

Nope, that should do the trick. Just need to tick those 'display button' and 'start automatically' options.

Suggest you try clicking on that round icon near the top of the screen. Hopefully it switches to a snowflake and kicks over to your climate controls and you can adjust fan speed, etc. Then try restarting your unit (swipe down from top of screen) to make sure it starts up automatically.

If it doesn't bring up your climate controls then you probably need to set/adjust your canbus settings to select the right vehicle.

That did it! I didn't even notice the icon at first but all is good now.

Now a general question for the forum. What are some of the best apps and settings for these things? The amount of available customization is a little overwhelming.

Does the round volume knob still work after installing one of the units ????
Mine does in an 03 LX. The behavior is kind of strange though because if I turn the volume up really loud on the steering wheel controls I get a lot of distortion, but if I turn it up really loud using the volume knob it is very clear. I have only had had mine installed for about a day so there may be some settings that I haven't discovered yet that can mitigate this.

I'll throw in a vote for the custom climate app I built. I like it better than the one the Teyes comes with.

Volume knob works great on 2006 LX

Gaia GPS is a must have in my book.
PRO - Super customizable offline maps. Multiple overlaid map layers (satellite, cell reception, forecasts, the incredible GAIA overland one, etc, etc) at whichever resolution level you choose. Routes, waypoints, pictures, seemless syncing between devices (phone, tablet, cc3).
CON - Possibly steep learning curve and requires a yearly subscription.

Darker - Simple app to drop the brightness even further. The pre-2K screen on low is still somewhat bright at night.

Eventually plan to try out the native TPMS app with the Teyes wheel sensors.

how do we get the custom climate app? Technician is having issues installing this system in my 2004 LC. I was hoping by waiting this long that the issues would be resolved. Do you know if all the issues from 2-3 years ago still exist?

"We have successfully connected all harnesses to the CC3 unit. It does power on and the touch screen works. When it asks you to select the vehicle from the CAN BUS menu, we select the Toyota LC100 from the list. LC100 is the number on the CAN BUS module. When selected, the steering wheel volume and seek buttons do not work. The climate control also does not work through the touch screen. The rear climate controls still work through the remaining OEM control button lower in the dash. The front vents do no blow. When the CC3 is powered on, there is a loud hiss present in all of the speakers. When you turn volume up on the unit, it gets very loud fast. With only a few clicks of volume it is too loud and the speakers begin to distort. "

The canbus thing is a common problem. They should set it to null, reboot, set it to lc100, reboot, and repeat until it works.

The static is a known problem on land cruisers, but shouldn't be an issue on the LX. Which do you have?

I have a 2004 Land Cruiser with the JBL speakers. I have upgraded the speakers to new JBL Clubs, with factory sub. But haven't touched the amp. This a project car with my kids so we are trying to keep within budget

Is your climate app just a software install in the head unit? The shop that is installing doesn't want to put everything back together until they know they can get it to work.
