So I just got mine in. Attempted to install just matching plugs to whichever plugs fit. Now I have this random plug that has no home. Unit powers on but I have no AC or Sound. Does anyone else have this issue with a random plug from the vehicle without connection? Or am I unlucky and received the wrong harness? I wish these came with better install guides.

Make sure you run the Teyes app thing i forget what its called. The canbus settings for your model car. Its critical.

Thaaaaat makes me want to get one. Looks slick.
I setup my phone so when it detects bluetooth it will auto turn on my wifi hotspot and the Teyes unit auto connects to the phones wifi. Automation working great.

It does! Although on my 2006 LC I haven’t been able to get rid of the hiss and engine noises. I fixed the bezel issue I addressed in my earlier post by securing the screw with a few non-traditional methods.

So if you have a 2006 or 2007 LC be prepared to go on a mission to find the source of the hissing noises. Besides that, the ac controls and HD reverse camera are a game changer for me.

Are the LX’s audio connections that different?

There is some critical difference between the versions, maybe years. Some are having issues with hiss and knobs not working, others don't have those issues. Might need to create a list to determine if there's any consistency with the issues. Several of us are in contact with Teyes about the problems. Actively trying to fix them.

Seems like it's a toss up right now if you have issues, but the unit is great.

Andriod with root access and I wrote my own script. Its pretty much a linux computer at this point.

I think we've figured out that the 06 LX works fine, but the 06 Land Cruiser (and maybe some other year LCs like the 04) have no volume control on the radio and have a terrible hiss. In my case, the hiss is so loud that it's not usable. We're still working on a fix with Teyes.

Well the fact that the 06 LX works but 06 LC doesn't, maybe that indicates what fixes the hiss.. what is different about the audio systems in the LX? Something to do with Mark Levinson?

That's the key question. So far, there is nothing obvious.

@xswl That connector from the vehicle side goes into a "conversion" connector. See pic below from the link below the picture.

Also, TEYES again updated their website with some additional instructions on getting A/C controls to work with a few options selections and a reboot.

Setting the canbus to LC100 (as pictured in quoted post) was critical to getting mine to work properly. Previously, I had set it to an LX470 setting (I have a 2005 LX) but the A/C controls would not work. Tried multiple factory resets with no luck. Then I stumbled upon this post, changed the canbus settings exactly as pictured and it worked.

Been looking at this head unit for 2006 LC, 02/2006 production month.

They are now carrying a disclaimer on the hum and volume knob due to all the hard work from everyone on this thread. But they are acknowledging it and seem committed to finding the Bug.

so i'm inclined to pull the trigger. Thansk to all those who have gopne down this path and shared .

I know the diesel 100 series cruisers use a different OBD standard with a multiplexed CAN bus. Is it possible that the 06-07 LC 100 uses this as well? I'm not too familiar with it, so I don't know if a standard OBD reader can parse any or all of it.

That likely has nothing to do with the hissing, but could explain the volume control issues.

Is the Part number for the Black box you keep the same for the LX and the LC 06's? could that be the Difference in the 2 that causes the Hiss/hum issues? most of the videos show it as Part # 88650-60B60. anyone that has it working "NO hiss", have that part # ; vs part # from the LC06 guys that have the "hiss"?

I had to change the canbus setting to LC100 for it to work with my LX470 2004. Worked like a charm.
Exactly this for me, as well. I'll add that I haven't had a hiss and the volume knob works, although it appears to control it separately from the head unit and steering wheel controls (if that makes sense). All in all, I'm happy with the head unit. A couple of quirks that bother me, but it's light years ahead of the factory head unit with blue tooth module setup I was previously running.

Mine also has independent volumes. The screen is the source volume then goes through the stock amp. If the screen is turned up too high it will start causing distortion as it goes through the stock amp. I leave the screen volume at 7 on mine and only use the knob to turn it up and down.

One could probably do the reverse as well but it depends on the impedance of your speakers and if they are happy with the power that is being sent to them.

@Biga27110 - I think that this is the root of the problem for those of us with the 06. We can't control the volume knob, so the stock system is sending full power to the speakers causing distortion, or, what I've been calling the hiss. My guess is that something is slightly different in the canbus.

So funny cuz this is exactly why I didn't want to bother with any of this! lol. Freak'n rabbit hole that won't get me any further off road!

In the middle of an installation to a 05LC. Does the head unit accept a SIM card for a 4G or 5G connection? Not clear on that.
