Being in Canada, I am never sure if I can get OEM parts for my 80. In regards to parts I need in a pinch, primarily tune up stuff. Plugs, for instance, if I pull them and they need replacing, can I go to the Lexus dealership and ask for plugs for an '97 LX450?

I knew it was the same engine .. just makin sure :D . Didn't know if all those fancy-nancy extra dodads would tax the engine, requiring some gold plated plugs.

I also just double checked on a denso site .. and both came up the same.

;p

Yes - but you should also be able to go to a local Toyota dealer. I had some emergency service done in Huntsville ON (20,000) at a Toyota dealer and they were able to get 'Lexus' parts (Toyota of course) for my front end without problem. However, I have also had Toyota dealers refuse to service my truck - likely given direction from Toyota/Lexus Canada - even for an oil change!!

Cheers, Hugh

A lot of auto part stores sell the right plugs. Lexus will charge a premium. NGK plugs and I think there is another Japanses brand that also counts.

Cool, I'll try NAPA .. gotta friend there.

Ok, next question .. is now a good time to do this seaform treatment? Run a bottle thru the PCV line or whatever it calls for? If so, I'll pull some plugs for inspection, and since they're cheap anyway do a treatment and then swap in the new plugs.

I'll have to search to see how long I need to give the stuff to get thru the treatment. I don't want to replace the plugs prematurely only to find they're fouled..

You just wanted to move "up" in the world with LX parts, admit it!!!!

Same plug as used in the 3.0 V6 . Canadian Toyota dealers should stock it.

on the road now ... before seeing this dan. I picked up NGK G-power platinum`s - BKR5EGP .. made for our 4.5l l6's...

Did you get them from Toyota? Usually they do come pre-gapped...0.044" is normal (no idea what that is in your metric mumbo-jumbo..) :D

.8mm for the 1FZ (.031) for us inch guys.

Are platinum plugs required or coppers are fine?

Sorry for the slight thread hi-jack...

The 1FZ specs a standard plug. Platinum is not required.
