Took the truck for a cruise to town to have dinner with the wife. Got home to find a nice hole in my driver side headlight. I have a spare set of LX450 headlights and my question is this: has anyone successfully transferred the glass from the housing? The replacements I have are damaged at the mounting bracket—purchased them for parts.

Pics of the damage and of my dog for your attention.

Thanks in advance!

I pulled the glass on a Land Cruiser headlight but haven't gotten around to installing it on the broken headlight. Here is some info on how to remove the glass. Be sure to use plastic tools to pry the glass off. I've done a couple Depos and thought I could get away with using a screwdriver but ended up chipping the glass.

Thank you! I’ll give this a shot this weekend. My luck, I’ll get it done only to have another rogue item impact my other headlight. Still sour about it.

I guess you motivated me to get mine done. A few pictures of the process.

Ready for the oven.

Tools of the trade. Only needed one of the pry bars.

Into the oven. I went with 270 for 10 minutes.

Popped apart in about 10 seconds.

Cleaned out the old butyl while it was hot. Had to put it back in the oven for another five minutes to soften the butyl back up and get most of the old out. Added a fresh layer of new butyl but forgot to get a picture.

Back in the oven for five minutes to soften up the new butyl. Pressed the glass on and added the metal clips.

Installed. No more broken glass.
