I just got home from a lovely two mile walk through the sleet after the 80 left me on a side street. Everything was going fine until I started to pull up a hill and it started sputtering, as I pulled onto a side street it stalled completely. I sat there a minute and then restarted it and then noticed smoke or steam coming from the hood. By the time I got out an d the hood open I couldn't tell where it was coming from and I couldn't really smell anything. After starting it and watching it at idle and not seeing anything I got in and started back up the hill where it started sputtering on it's way to a stall.
Upshot is that it will start and idle and drive at low RPM with no issue, but once I hit 1800 it starts to sputter and die.
All vitals seem to be in order;
temp gauge normal
oil pressure at the 1/4 mark at idle
battery charge fine
half tank of gas
97 w/ ~119K
The only thing I've noticed prior to this is a valve clatter right at 1800RPM that goes away if I get above or below that. No engine work has been done recently other than and oil change last week.
It's currently being loaded to go on it's way to the dealer for a diagnostic, so I 'll see what they say.
