I’m looking at adding a 100 series to the garage along with our ‘11 and ‘16 200 series. This is going to be a “dog car” to haul around the kids and dogs on the weekends so not a daily driver. I’m looking at a number of vehicles with 225-250k miles. Obviously the timing belt is a routine maintenance item and I am expecting the alternator, starter, etc will likely need to be replaced, if not done so already, but anything else to look out for with this mileage and any major mechanicals issues associated with this mileage? I’m searching TX so I don’t expect rust will be an issue.
Thanks!

Check the power steering system. I bought mine recently with 250k and the PS leaked. It leaked a little from both the high pressure hose and the front seal on the PS pump.
Last week, the front seal failed catastrophically and dumped all the fluid.

I bought a PS pump rebuild kit ($13) and an after market line kit ($125) and rebuilt the pump. One of the lines was a PIA to replace but doable with the right tools. So far so good. The PS rack also leaked slightly out of the boots. I used some stop leak and it actually seems to have worked. i'll hold off on that unless it becomes a problem.

One last thing, despite mine living mostly in FL, my upper tailgate is still rusty on the inside lip. Again, I will hold off replacing it until it eats through the outside. I suspect the gaskets on the 3rd brake light fail allowing water to pool inside. No longer a problem on mine since the rust created new drain holes LOL:rofl:

My 100 has 240k miles. Seems like alot of master cylinder failures around 200?? It can get expensive to repair if you go to wrong place. My master cylinder was replaced 4k miles before I purchased. Poor lady got hosed, down for 4k! If you get the lexus version the AHC system can just fail from nobody maintaining fluids or specs. I'd get a 2000 and up.
