i'm pretty sure i pulled my battery and ran it to the battery shop to get them to check cold cranking amps and they told me it was fine but i'm going to double check again as soon as i get the rig on the road again.
but i'm wondering if there is a documented issue where the alarm will drain the battery.
alternatively is it possible for it to get drained if you leave the rear hatch ajar (mine is bused) but you've pulled all the interior light bulbs?
this thing keeps dying over the course of sitting for six to eight weeks and it seems silly to me to have to disconnect the battery or find a place to trickle charge it since i don't do that with any other vehicle i've owned and it seems counter productive to have to do it with an off road rig.
does the LX alarm drain the battery? and links on the issue?

There are fair number of post on this topic. Google search is your freind. Unfortunalty the forum search isn't the best at finding these.
Good luck.

thanks man. i appreciate this.
i'm staring to wonder if it is an LX specific alarm problem since i think i am all stock on this vehicle.
just from a logical troubleshooting perspective - not looking forward to another thing to solve - i can A. test for parasitic drain and remove the alarm and test again or B. test for parasitic drain and move closer to the alarm to see if it is pulling milliAmps or something?

I have the same issue with my LX450 but havent tackled it yet. I do have the RS3000 alarm and it definitely helps to not arm it but I still will have a dead battery in a few weeks. I plan to insert an ammeter in series with each fuse to get a better idea of the possible culprits.

I traced a parasitic drain on my LX450 to the CD changer. Unplugged the changer and solved the problem.

thanks for the input here and as always thanks to RM here.
so i do not have an active alarm. or i should say i don't know what my alarm is actually doing except that i have A. no fob but a factory light on the dash B. something printer out here somewhere on how to do an alarm delete (which i have not gotten to and not sure if i can find ot but will post the link here when i do) C a heads up from someone on here about some third party accessor that gets my factory alarm working (looked quite click but again i need to find he link and not totally sure what it buys me) and D dead battery when sitting for more then three or four weeks (no bueno and i don't like this in my adventure rig).

thanks. i have stuff accessed here over rhe years about voltage drop tracking and i need to clear some mental space to tackle this.
fist i have to get it dailying again but i'd love to follow up with you on this.
maybe we could even tag team on a how to do it for idiots by idiots if we wanted to?
we both have "case studies" after all...

Any update to this thread?

I've just killed another battery. I've had a parasitic drain for years and just keep replacing the battery (I was just looking up my last receipt, and I'm finally out of the 48 month free replacement window). I originally purchased a Bosch Platinum AGM but it was replaced with a 'Pep Boys' brand battery a couple times as they no longer carried the Bosch line. I've checked (and others too) overnight for a drain but found nothing overnight...I can't remember when it started but I'd love to figure this out. Mine is a '95 with no CD changer. I've added a new Pioneer radio but no other electronics. I know I had the drain issue before the new stereo went in about 6-7 years back.

Make sure the ignition ring is not staying on slightly, I found on my 95 with truck off no key, the ring was barely green, could only see in the dark, pulled the bulb out. This is known issue if you search for that one.

Checked that - it def turns off after I exit the car. It I did read in another thread that there could be another short somewhere in there. I’m going to pull fuses and see if that helps.
