Guilty as charged, sir!

That may be the only time I'll utter that ;)

EPA/CARB VORTEC INSTALL

This video does a great job of spotlighting key elements of the build - engine, ECM/TCM, wiring, trans shifter (OEM Toyota), etc. for a California truck. Listen to the mellow exhaust note - this is a well-balanced and civilized vehicle.

The video below is a walk-around of another Cruiser-Vortec mash-up. Unlike @theron's red wagon mentioned in the thread above, the subject of the video (white 60 series wagon) that Torfab did for a California client that wanted to have a smog-legal California truck. The requirements (as I understand them): 1) use the eRod version of the LC9 crate motor; 2) install the motor and related systems (fuel evap, MAF, air box, harness, check engine light, OBD-II port, cats, exhaust, etc.) per GM installation instructions; and 3) present the vehicle for inspection in California and then be ready to negotiate and modify the rig as directed by the state referee.

I am going to be in Seattle in a few weeks. I may have to swing by and see all this maavelous progress

I'll buy lunch and we can poke around Torfab. May not see much progress.....depends upon parts 'n stuff. Currently working on layout, rewiring chassis, etc. You may recognize a LHD 12v harness layin' around.

Looks like Friday Feb 20th I would be available. I need to call Torfab on a project. Who would you recommend I ask for

That's a good day. You want a ride? Traffic sucks big time in my home town.

Tor is the guy to call. Adam, Josh and Jason are all great, but it is best to schedule time with Tor.

Good restaurants nearby, but pizza is always a welcome delivery item.

This is going to be such an epic build--regardless if it will no longer have a Toyota heart.

At least it will have that Cdan-loves-much V8 sound. :)
Thanks Onur.

I bought a new 40 in 1979 (I think) and after a 30 day break-in I replaced the dizzy, carb and exhaust manifold with Man-a-Fre performance parts - all pretty much sourced from stovebolt Chev parts bin.

Given that the F (and gas B) engines had close ties to GM sixes dating back to 1929, my VJ73 won't be the first case of GM genetics finding its way into a Toyota. Should rock on pretty good...

It may be a basterd when it gets done, but it will be my glorious basterd :)

Tell me you didn't have a pony tail and 8 track playin' "Do you think I'm Sexy?"
No pony tail or mullet - my other car was a new black Seville with cassette blaring Warren Zevon doing "Lawyers guns and money"

I would laugh at this, but having just received a subpoena at the office (for a lawsuit that we are not even a party to), I can't quite bring myself to :censor: :bang: .... right now, I'll take the guns ;)

My birthday is usually a good day - middle of summer in Seattle, etc. Two of them not so good - first was when I had to put my dog down due to old age, the other when I got served with a lawsuit - big fawkin' corporation vs. little old me. Not my first rodeo, but we fought to a draw.

Sorry for your day, Sam.....You may not be named, but they are messin' with you nonetheless.

In the immortal words of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell: "Too close for missiles, I'm switching to guns."

Tech Edit: Driving a Cruiser for 30 minutes is a proven stress-reduction practice.

Understood Ward ... and it is a royal PITA.

Tech Content: 73's down for some transfer work - hopefully a reseal, but could go deeper as the rear output flange was loose on the output shaft, will know soon if its a $ repair or a $$$$$ repair. The 200 is just not as fun to drive, but it is smooooottttthhhhhh ....

PM sent

I feel sorry for people who don't drink.

When they get up in the morning that is as good as they are going to feel all day......:)

I thought about quitting once...but then realized, God hates quitters.

BREAKING NEWS :bounce::bounce2:
Or maybe breaking wind......

The 73 is moving from the storage lot in the next few days to begin conversion. LC9 and H55F have been ordered - the conversion kit arrived last week.

The Yota / Chebby guru (Tor) has suggested that the 325+ hp in a 30 year old MWB might be too much macho for my geriatric ass and has offered to disconnect several of the spark plugs to reduce the potential for self-harm. My response below (with respect and affection):

Given that my manhood is in risk, I will ask the crew at Torfab to upgrade the LC9 with a supplemental induction system as below (it is a Harrop product)...... I can only assume this is where the term "blow me" originated.

Note to moderator: This really is tech :)
