Sorry to say that I still do not have a night time shot of the heads/spots. Living in the far north (almost to southern Canada), I usually fall asleep before it gets dark.....

Yes, OEM bumper with additions of hitch ball (step cut with receiver bracket welded to crossmember) and surface rust behind the scenes. POR 15 will be applied as appropriate.

TRASH TALK - Short / Mid Wheelbase Bolt-on Pick Up Body (kind of)

Need some input, please.

The Burrito is coming along well but slowly. Summer has gotten in the way, etc. Anyway, the truck is our designated trash hauler to the dump (too cheap to pay for home pick up). Lots of smelly stuff that needs to go away and I am tired of smellin' up my ride.

Already have a new/unused 54" square aluminum roof rack from Greg at Diamondrax. Beautiful piece of work that we decided not to use on the fire truck. So the idea is to build a steel frame for the rack that mounts to the hitch receiver (2") on my bumper.

Mocking up with sawhorses and some 2x4s (wood, not steel) to see how it would look and function. Greg customized my rack to accommodate a set of large LED tail units and will also add some clearance/side markers.

Rack with lights weights under 50 lbs. Frame and mount another 100 lb or so. Should be good for a few hundred pounds of garbage, camping gear, construction supplies. Planning to mount around a foot off the back doors (spare will live in the cabin), with the floor of the rack around 36 inches above ground level. The racks available at eBay, Amazon, etc. are smaller, less robust, etc. and are purported to carry up to 500 lbs.

Any comments, suggestions or WTF??

My trash is pretty light-weight.

Funny you should mention the matching trailer. I know a guy with some 79 pick up bodies - he mentioned turning one of them into a trailer recently. Or find a 75 box out of the mines and have Adventure Trailers do a custom frame - suspension, electric brakes, etc.

To top it off, you could tow it behind one of these......

I've kept a pig frame for the purpose of a matching trailer, but if I could find a good Pig ass, I'd lose sleep over using it for. Haha.

Quad cab is pretty cool.

Yeah, and maybe some portal axles while I'm at it.
