Engine is 326 hp, so answer to your question depends on the chassis

The low-rider has seen 70+mph with the 3b

Don't think it's going to test the speedo

I DO like the idea of accurate speedo without having to adjust for tire diameter or gear ratios

Also, cruise control other than idle knob...

Ward, those look nice. You might also look at the Autometer gauges like Stan uses in his Vortec converstions (see here https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/80-62-build.806177/page-7#post-9430462 )
Thanks for the suggestion, Sam

Two thoughts -
1 - Autometer very comparable to Speedhut. As we are basically reproducing Tor's build of Theron's wagon, it was just easier to 'go with the flow' wherever possible. There is something to be said for standardization and Tor does a couple of these per week - lots of benefits for his customers.

2- Stan and Tor's shops have a great deal in common - quality, passion, commitment, value(s), etc. - also similar component sourcing (shifters, radiators, etc.). One of my bucket list items is a continental road trip, hitting all of the high points of Cruiser goodness. Kind of like "Route 66" except the rig would be a reborn VJ73 (BJ73 + Vortec). Following are some of the drive-by targets (NOT a complete list) - not included are non-vendor individuals that make my life better (Chas, Sam, Delancy, Kevin, Rob, Alberto, etc.)

This is definitely NOT a definitive vendor list, just a start:
Hardline (SC)
Torfab (WA)
IPOR (VA)
JDM Landcruisers (TN/NY)
Slee (CO)
Nalley Toyota (GA)
Luxury Imports / Crushers (ONT)
ACC (GA)
Cruiser Outfitters (UT)
Landcruisers Direct (MO)
Land Cruiser Heritage Museum (UT)
American Toyota (NM)
Specter Offroad (CA)
Proffitts (RIP)
Diesel Toys (TX)
Vealey Hybrids (CA)
TLC / Jonathan Ward (CA)
4x4 Labs (CA)
Mudrack (CA)
Cruisin Offroad (BC)
AETB (BC)
Radd (BC)
Just Differentials (WA)
EBI (BC)

Cruiser Outfitters is in SLC UT.

Mr Williams may wish he was in CO at times......

That's a heck of a list there Ward!

Understand on the comments on the gauges. To my eyes, I find the tach and speedo a bit busy for one gauge.

Yep, same concern here, but I believe that the cleaner graphics and enhanced contrast will overcome data compression.

Trans temp is front and center due to a fried 4L60E less than a year after a major rebuild and heavy duty upgrade. ATF cooling lines to the cooler somehow got crimped. Not a happy camper...

"only" 8,500 miles and 136 hours

He has spent time on 'MUD but I wouldn't say he is an active participant. He will be the gentleman installing the 3B if John finds the right vehicle.

Great suggestion, love to meet him.

Ouch ... based on that experience, I'm surprised there's not a warning light as well that says "Hey, I'm hot in here" as well ;)

Great suggestion, love to meet him.

Rob runs a small "one man" shop in my hometown and in addition to keeping my collection on the road, he has a number of restoration projects underway on any given day. He is hands down one of the nicest, most talented people I've ever had the pleasure to know.

No way! The vendor gaggle is "List A" - still in development are cool people (List "B") and cool events/destinations like MOAB, expos, workshops, chapter runs/meetings, etc. plus places I want to visit, hike, camp ("List C").

Tech question - your 73 is/will continue as a 24 volt, yes?

SCVJ73 sure has a nice ring to it....

Portuguese spec VMs seem to all be 12V.....and the 1FZ necessitates.
Will consider.....
No 24 volt goodies for you!
